When you are making lasagna do you put cottage cheese in it? Or do you use ricotta? When I was growing up my mom made it with cottage cheese because my dad did not like ricotta cheese. Now that I make it myself I use the ricotta.

So...i'm italian and i must say that it's the first time i heard about ricotta in lasagne... use mozzarella and if you aren't on a diet add some besciamella! let me know the result!
i will ask my mum to try this new recipe with ricotta...but sorry, i think mozzarella is much better.
i'm here for further informations!

I don't think I've ever had lasagna with cottage cheese in it, and I don't think I'd like it very much. Whenever I make lasagna, it's always ricotta cheese!

A 15 ounce container of it where I live is about $2.50. That is about the same price as a container of cottage cheese. I think the taste is totally different. Ricotta is drier than cottage cheese and it is not in chunks like cottage cheese. It is more of a paste really.

I have used both. It really honestly doesn't matter which cheese you use but I for one have to have cheese in my lasagne. I cannot have it otherwise. I love making homemade lasagna. I love to make my own noodles as well. Just gives it that extra kick.

I've always used ricotta cheese in my lasagna, I've never used cottage cheese, I don't like cottage cheese anyway, I don't like the texture of it. I think ricotta works much better...

I make it with ricotta cheese. I guess I have probably eaten it with cottage cheese and I am sure it was great, but my recipe that I found that I like calls for ricotta so that is just what I have always used.

When I make lasagna I use both cottage cheese, and ricotta. Now that I have answered your question; and seeing you just gave me a craving for lasagna. I must leave now to prepare some.

I have used ricotta and cottage cheese. I think the cottage cheese is more watery. Ricotta works better because it is drier. However, I don't make it often. It doesn't taste bad, but it doesn't come out the way i want.

I think Lasagna is better with Ricotta cheese. I have no idea why someone would not like ricotta cheese and would insist on cottage cheese. Don't get me wrong, I like cottage cheese, too. Well, so long as the Lasagna tastes good, I guess that's all that matters, right?

I never tried cottage cheese before. I use Ricotta.
But Lasagna never turns out very good when I make it. I don't know why. I always like to eat it when someone else makes it.
I made stuffed shells yesterday and had some leftover cheese mixture, so today I made spaghetti pie with it.
I'm not sure that the spaghetti pie had the exact same cheese mixture recipe, but it's in the oven now, so I'll see how it tastes in a little while. Lol!
