Yes, they're safe to leave unattended. Many people put food in them before they go to work in the morning so that they'll have a meal ready when they get home. The newer ones are supposed to be safer than the old ones in that they don't get as hot, but you have to allow for longer cooking times in them.

I've left mine several times and haven't had any fires. I use it for stew, nachos, little smokies (smoked sausage in BBQ), shredded pork sandwiches the list could go on and on. Crock pots are great, hope you make something good with yours. Feel free to message me for any of the recipes to the food listed.

I love my crockpot! I make all kinds of things in it like ribs, stews, rice casseroles, chicken dishes, the list goes on! I usually use my crockpot on the weekend so I'm home while it's running but I don't think it's a big deal if you leave it on while you are at work etc. As long as the crockpot is in good working condition and you place it on a sturdy counter so it can't fall or be knocked over, it should work as needed. I know I used to set my bread maker to run while I was at work and I never had a problem with it. If you still feel squeamish about leaving it on while at work or away, have it cook the night before while you are home and sleeping and then reheat it for 1/2 hour before you eat it.

I have crockpot. Don't use it too often. I use it for things like shredded beef tacos, roast, curry, stew, corned beef & cabbage. That's about it. Haven;t had any fires.

I put a boneless pork loin in about an inch of water and let it cook all day. When i get home from work i pour off the liquid that is left and use a fork to shred the pork. Add the BBQ sauce and let it cook together about another half hour. Yummy BBQ pork! My family loves this stuff. Enjoy!

One of my favorite things to make in a crockpot is a whole stuffed chicken, just stuff it like you are gonna bake it and stand it up ( stuffing side up ) right in the crockpot. Add about 2 inches of water and let it go. Afterwards I turn up the crockpot to the highest setting and add a flour/water mixture and leave the top off. This makes an excellent gravy. Cooking this in the crockpot makes chicken taste like a Thanksgiving turkey, gravy and all. I hope you enjoy this recepie. Also stuffed peppers are great in the crockpot as well, I think I've cooked just about everything in mine, and I also use it to keep things warm, such as spagetti or sloppy joes. I put in the sauce and let it cdook for a while and then add the meat and let it finish Happy cooking ! p.s. Don't worry about leaving it on, they are very safe.
