The Lipstick Comment

That's because he wasn't implying that Hillary was a pig. He was talking about her idea, Not her, personally. And Hillary hadn't been going around the country telling a joke with Lipstick as the punchline. And no one is attacking Obama.

Obama Said it. he meant it, His fans knew what he meant and Laughed about it. They even chanted "No mOre Pitbulls". And now they are trying to defend him on it. You guys really need a new script. this one is worn out.

No one is attacking over this remark? The McCain campaign immediately relaeased an internet ad on youtube (that was yanked after CBS complained) that accused Obama of running a sexist campaign. You are right. This shouldn't even be a topic of discussion. However, as long as the McCan camp keeps using the "shiny metal object" way of getting the media, and the Obama camp to shy away from focusing on the issues this is what we're stuck with. Personally I think the McCain camps avoidance of the issues is getting rather old.

Yet Senator Obama talked at length about it on the David Letterman show. Who is keeping it alive?

I believe it was Letterman that asked the question that brought it up again to begin with. If Obama would've refused to answer he'd be getting criticized for that. Some situations you just can't win, and this is one of them for Obama. As an Obama supporter I'd like to see Obama stop trying to defend himself and just stick to the issues, but then he ends up like McCain did back in 2000 when it appeared he wasn't standing up for himself.

Senator Obama has been praised as a great speaker based on speaches given using a teleprompter. When he get into trouble with things he says it is because he is talking off the cuff with out prepaired text. Senator Obama is a trained lawyer and a politician. He should be able to speak his ideas in a coherent manner with out prepared text. It seems that almost all of his gaffs have been when he is making his off script talks or in a debate. It is in these talks that he seems to alway have to hold a press confrence to explain what he meant the day before and sometimes it takes two or three confrences to fully explain what he meant to say. You do not get this chance in Diplomatic talks. He may have his advisors but many times the two leaders meet and set out the general outline.

One of the problems I see is the man has no solid values to guide his decisions. I DO NOT MEAN THAT HE IS A BAD PERSON. MANY PEOPLE DO NOT HAVE BASIC VALUES AND GO WITH THE FLOW OF EVERYDAY LIFE. He has osme things that guide his life and decisions but they are something that can be changed or bent to fit a situtation or to advance him or a cause he is working on. By solid values I will give an example. A person who beleives that your first duty is to help and serve your country. So when your country is in need of your service, even if they don't ask for your help, this person would give up a comfortable life to serve their country. Such people include Jimmy Stewart, JFK, Pat Tillman, Bob Hope to name a few. When you have deeply held values it is easy for you to talk about those values. Senator Obama has values more of the Situtaional Ethics, which beleives that the situtation determines your responce. Is one better than the other value system. No they are different and how you view them depend upon your value system.

Did you happen to watch his inerview with Bill O'Reilly? Bill only had 30 minutes...not a minute more...so he hit hard and fast in order to cover everything. Obama did not have a prepared text, did not know what the questions would be in advance, was in a very intense situation and, IMO, he came across as coherent and knowledgable. That was Bill's no spin opinion as well on his radio show today. So far I haven't seen any press conferences explaining anything that he said and none of the networks/websites/blogs have picked up on anything so I think that goes against your theory. The reason Obama, as well as McCain, have to explain comments is because their opponants will seize upon anything they can sensationalize and spin to their favor.

You just described Obama's service to the poor in Chicago. Instead of taking a high paying job as an attorney he became a voice for those who could not speak for themsleves and wasn't raking in the dough while doing it.

I have seen the interview and he did a good job. He was prepared for this interview and he still had to be brought back to the topic. The interview was not exactly an off the cuff speech.

Your example of Senator Obamas community orginizinge job is an example of values. So is his decision to deny a friend of 20 years when it looks like it might hurt
his campaing. He also the Church because it would help him as a Community Orginizer. These are examples of Situtational Ethics. What he did was not wrong when he viewed it at the time.

And even Huck Hucklebee told Hannity that he'd have to cut Obama a break on this one; that it was just a saying used by many and not directied toward anyone. Far a Bill O' interview hardest interview Obama has had in two years,this is Fox News style,Bill O' is engaging,hard hitting kind of guy, but he is also fair,Barack Obama can't give a off his head answer,he repeats well,well,ah,well,ah and he fumbles, thinks harder then most people would have to,I see it the words are not from the heart but they are from the head.
