Do you consider myLotters with 1000+ posts as "oldies"?

Do you think of the number of posts that myLotter have as a measure of their "age" here in myLot? Do you consider it as a measure of their myLot expertise?
I have been reading newbies calling those with higher numbers as "veterans". Does it somehow affect the awarding of best responses?
Do you think those who have higher numbers are more respected here than those with lower numbers?

Ummmm, no I don't!
Just means they've got more time to spend on myLot. I have been here almost 5 months and have 725 posts, there's people who joined after me or a month ago and got 1000 posts in their first month.
Some people have a target of certain number of posts a day so they get to higher numbers quickly. So no, I do not think people with that many posts have been here longer or are veterans, they just have more time on their hands than I do
Now, if you look at people with 10,000 posts, then those are most likely the veterans who've been here a few years but also some people have 3000 or 4000 and been here about the same time...It's all about how much time you can put into posting on this site.
plus some do it for the money so...

I agree with you that the number of post also determines "age" here in mylot but I don't think it would mean being an expert because expertise could refer to different things related to my lot.
I have posted more than 1000 responses but I am not a TOS expert. I can say, I am an expert in responding to questions that I know of but I doknow, there are a lot that I don't know too but I play safe so I don't response to questions that I cannot answer correctly or sensibly.
I think respect should be given to all - regardless of the number of post.

Hello Richiem,
I don't think a person's post count accurately tells how long a person has really been here. I have seen members who have only been here for a few months easily reach 1000+ posts just by spending hours and hours daily here on MyLot.
Some with the higher numbers are highly respected, while others not so much. So I really think it has a little something to do with the way each person handles themselves online and if they actually act, for lack of a better phrase, like a human with soul.
For instance, there have been times where I have clashed in opinions with other MyLotters, but just by being civil about it (meaning no name calling involved), we still ended up adding each other as friends. Plus the saying goes, "Treat others as you would like to be treated" stands even when I conduct things online. I give respect to all and get respect in return. It's a two way street in my opinion, if you are wanting respect, you must give it before getting it.
Brightest blessings to you and happy Mylotting!

Thank you Grandpa Bob!
Treating people fairly is something I have always believed in. If the person has done nothing but step on the toes of others, and disrespects everyone they come across, than that is a person not deserving of respect from others.
We all have to remember, that sure there may be many miles, oceans, and computer screens that separate us from talking face to face with another, but we all are still living, breathing, full of emotion, human beings. Words are very powerful and can do a number of things to us. True it really depends on the person how those words effect each one of us, but those who just say things to start a ruckus, are far from being ones that I chose to be giving respect to. Sure there will be differences, but it's those differences that make us unique. We shouldn't be using those differences just to hurt one another.
Brightest of blessings and happy Mylotting to you!

Not to me, a best response is the person that has the best respons eto the post, not if they have been here the longest or have posted the most responses. I don't even look at the number of responses a person has made when picking the best response. I pick the best response to the post.

Not really oldies but somewhat active and experienced is the term I would like to use. There are a lot of people here that I have seen when I started and they have more posts than me, but as I check them again, I am surprised that I have more posts than them now. For me I do feel some certain respect for people who had made it past to 1000 posts. For me it means that they have been actively participating here and maybe they know more than what we know.

Well, sure, in a way myLotter with more posts can be considered veterans at this site I guess. But I don't think it does affect much.
You see the number of posts doesn't necessarily equate good posts LOL It's a matter of quantity but not necessarily quality.
Do people respond more to members that are somewhat oldies in this site? Maybe. First people tend to try and learn from others that have more experience in something - in this case in this site -. But I don't think it would affect the decision to give a best response. People give best responses to the post that helps them the most, or is more informative, or even just more entertaining, regardless - I would like to think - of how many posts that person has. But then again....I am only one voice/one opinion, maybe others might feel that the number of posts should contribute in the decision.
Same thing with the respect, I don't see why the number of posts should affect the respect given to any poster, but we're talking humans here... who knows? LOL

I believe the number of posts doesn't equate to good posts. I am guilty of those low quality posts too. And I have suffered a lot of deleted posts in the past.
So I guess it would be really hard to reach 1000 because of the deletions.
Have a nice day!

I have been on My Lot since March 2007. In that time I have seen some people that joined build up to about the same number of posts as me at the current time. Some of them have many more posts than me and some have no where near as many posts. A man might join My Lot today and do fifty posts every day in which case he will reach 1000 posts quite quickly. A lady that is learning English might join My Lot today and do five posts a day during the weekend and only a couple of posts a day in the week after work. It would take her ages to get to 1000 posts. A man might join My Lot today and lose interest in eight months time but the lady learning English might stay on My Lot forever. One of my friends on My Lot has over 10 000 posts now and I think wow! I respect newbies on My Lot because we can all remember our first few days on My Lot. I also respect members that have been on My Lot for a number of months or years. I give a best response to the post the deserves it. It won't matter if the member has got 5 posts, 500 posts or 5000 posts they will get a best response given if they deserve this.

Not necessarily. I have noticed that some people can post a lot in a very short time and others have been here for months and not posted much at all. I mean I have been here for 9 months and have only done 321 posts. But there were months when I hardly posted at all
However, by the fact that they have posted so much tends to mean that they are very familiar with the site and the rules etc and that does tend to make them veterans. They are veterans in use of the site.
Despite the time I have been a member there is still a lot I do not know about doing my profile and things like that.
As to rewarding best responses that can be hard. I do not reward it according to how many posts a person has but to according to how good their post is. I am sorry I cannot award more than one sometimes as their sometimes are more than one post that is really good. But I never award on the basis on how many posts a person has done.

It may seem that way when you look at the total number of posts a mylotter has it gives the impression that they are myLot Pros but that doesn't mean that they are season pros...you have just over 1000 posts and I visited your profile and you have only been a member for just over 4 mos. now would that make you a myLot Pro...do you know all the rules and guidelines all the pros and cons of enchaning your earnings no i don't think so...to be a myLot Pro i would think you would have to know those things and not just because you have made a lot of posts...

I think how many posts a person has does sort of show how much experience and expertise a person on mylot has, even though it is not the only factor because someone who is still new could have more than a thousand posts,I have only been here a little over five months and I still consider myself kind of new,and I have over two thousand posts,I think another factor is how much effort you put into what you do here on mylot, and I think that helps gain more respect then just the number of posts someone has.

No, I think those who post with some intelligent thought behind the post are, or should be, more respected.
I have read some posts that leave me thinking, "Was the point of this post just for the sake of posting or what?!"
I truly believe that posts on here that require some effort are worth more than those that are not. I have read posts of newbies that I find more intriguing and posts by oldies that are useless to me.

I don't think the number of posts an individual has posted has much to do with his/her expertise. The quality of the post and the sense that it makes are important. Not just the quantity.

Us so called "veterans" do get a lot more newbies friendship requests. I do not think the number shows all that much as far as expertise here. It just shows one has done a lot of writing either discussions or responses and comments. I feel us "vets" do seem to get a bit more respect, mainly because we may know the guidelines a lot better than some other members. Possibly? I don't know either way fully though. Hahah! It does not reflect the vets getting BR either in my opinion. I do not get a lot of BR's myself.
Some members do not start discussions and respond only so those members have a better chance of getting a BR. Some only start discussions so their chances are slim. It varies greatly. Mostly on the member awarding the BR.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!

Hey richiem, I have 1500 posts and I've only been here
since July. All that it means is that I love to be on myLot.
I stay up late at night myloting because I can't sleep and
I honestly love to be with my friends and responding to
their discussions and sometimes interacting in a silly
conversation discussion as it is happening. I don't really
know how other people categorize other mylotters. I really
don't pay much attention. I do watch out for newbies who
might just be starting out to see if I can give them some
tips if they ask because I know that when I started out
I got help from older members who had been here longer than
me. I am always available to help anyone that wants to
be helped.

Well, yes. As anywhere else, the length of time one spends doing something is usually indicative of one's experience. And people with more expertise in something are generally more respected than those who are just starting out.
From my viewpoint as a (relative) newbie, the number of posts you guys have is quite overwhelming, especially for someone whose number of posts a day only ranges from 5 to 10 to 15 at the most, when I'm really in the mood. Also, those with lots of posts and a high-ranked STAR usually deserve alot more respect in my opinion. =)

I think the name newbies and veterans is fitting. I guess it would take a while to make a lot of posts unless you had no life and that is all you did :)! I wouldn't say that i respect their opinions or posts anymore than a newbie.
