We went to Dennys. A place I hadn't been in a long time. I ordered my meal. Breakfast of course. It is the meal that fits no matter what time of day you eat it. Anyway the portions were HUGE! I mean tremendous. When they brought me my plate I couldn't believe my eyes. I had hashbrowns and bacon. With a small(2) stack of pancakes. Anyway, I ate a good deal of what was on the plate. But couldn't finish. As my friend was paying for the meal, I offered the rest to them. Which to my surprise was happily accepted. Have you ever been surprised by the portions served you in a restaurant? Was it too much or too little?

I have been surprised by the portions that I've been served. I think it was as salad at a "Cheesecake Factory." The portions for most food is big so they can charge more. The idea of opulence. However, it causes people to tend to overeat.
To be honest, I am more often surprised at the amount of food people can eat....

My favorite meal is breakfast. I love to eat breakfast food at dinnertime and would do that every night of the week if I could. So for that and other reasons I LOVE Denny's. They have great breakfast food and you are right huge portions. You are making me hungry now, because I've been craving Dennys for the last several weeks. I wonder how I could finagle a trip? Hmmm...

I love Denny's I haven't been there is about 6 years when I was visiting my parents out of state. We don't have a Denny's even close to us. I have been to several restaurants that served small portions then I have been to them that served huge more then your moneys worth meals. Bob Evans is a place close to us that serves a big meal. Shoney's is another one. I haven't been to the New Ponderosa we have in town so I am not sure about it. We recently acquired a Taco Bell/KFC that are together. I have been wanting to try them out. Fazoli's gave out small portions though.

We used to eat at Denny's all the time when the kids were little and would eat for free. I haven't been to a Denny's for ages because there is only one in my area and it is on the other side of town. It seems to me that all restaurants serve way more than normal portions. It's no wonder that people over eat. My granddaughter will share an order or get doggie boxes all the time when we eat out. Then we have a second and sometimes third meal. Years ago before all the restaurants became franchise you could get 1/2 orders so there wasn't so much.

We used to go to cafeterias with a couple friend of ours. Surprisingly enough the smallest gateaux piece was always served to me. This has become an internal joke within our group. One time we were in a particular restaurant and the same thing happened. You can imagine my friends/wife reaction and laughter when a small portion was served to me, which was almost half of theirs. The waiter was sensible enought to take it back and bring another one.

that UUUUUGGGHHH! part made me think for a second that you were fraustrated.. LOL but yea I have been to Dennys restaurant (maybe like once in my lifetime? LOL) but most of them when I go to the fastfood restaurant, I don't get alot of the portions as i expected... depending on the amount of money I am paying for. At least in my eyes, it just does not look alot of food I am getting.. but then again there are times the amount of food I ordered does make my stomach full, but there are times it just doesn't, and it's making me order more!! There are times like that I guess... lol

I've only been surprised on a few occasions. I had never eaten at an IHOP before so we decided to go try it out. I wasn't sure how big the portions would be compared to the prices of the meals. So, upon getting my order, I was quite surprised that I was actually getting a pretty nice sized portion for a pretty OK price. I usually can put away the food so portions don't bother me much.

You are right, portions are huge at most places. we like to order one meal and ask them to split it. Otherwise, we take home extras. I guess one way to look at it is that you got a good deal for your money. I would be really offended if I was paying for a very small portion.

I have not been to Denny's in years, so I cannot say for sure about them. I have had some HUGE portions at some places before though. I almost always have leftovers when I go out to eat. I went to Red Robin about a month ago with my sister and I only managed about half my burger and half my fries before I was stuffed.

Good day.. In our place it is hard to get a bargain just like you have there without paying a little more. We can have a buffet but it will cost more than a regular meal. It seemed too long for me to remember that I was served with that kind of servings.

No matter it depends upon what you have ordered and it is according to their menu. It happens with me also. In an restaurant I have ordered for the snacks of my choice. I was alone. The quantity was so much that was enough for two of three. I could not finish that and I have ask them to pack the remaining. Do u get the remaining packed and take it or you leave it there. In an further incidence we were three of our family and We ordered pizza for two. They brought 3 Pizza. We could not finish and we had to get the remaining packed for the evening. How you see it please comment and have a nice day.

We have a few 50's era restaurants in our area and the portion are amazing for the price. One has Vinal LP Records strewn all about on the walls, you do remember those don't you? They also play 50's era music in the background. The other place has a 50's era restored juke box! All the tables and booths are 50's diner era stuff. There prices are a bit higher but the food is good.

Hahaha...
You know, I always finish my food at Denny's, but I can definitely say that sometimes I look at the food they give us and it does seem like a lot. There are sometimes when I go to a restaurant and think to myself "wow, they sure did give me a lot." It doesn't happen too often, but it's always a surprise when it does.
There's a place I discovered in college in San Diego, CA; it's called Studio Diner. That place have the biggest portions I can remember. They are awesome!

I love some large food. I am a small girl, but normally if i'm going out to a restraunt I make sure to eat my moneys worth. I love going to buffets, and most of the time can eat more than the other person that i'm with, oh yea ive astounded a few people before.
One of my friends is about 6'2 and weighs about 320 lbs keep in mind I only weigh 120 lbs and im 5'2 I at more than he did at the restraunt, and i won the eating contest. i can eat a lot, and i absolutely love it. The bigger the better, make sure to get your moneys worth.

I haven't been to Denny's for a long time. But I am a sucker for those breakfast plates. Bacon, eggs, pancakes and sausages. I always find myself ordering those from IHOP.
When I go to the Cheesecake Factory, I always prepare myself for a big portion. Now, I think they offer the "lunch size" which is a bit smaller but I always go for the dinner size because I know I would crave some more Pasta Da Vinci when we get home and the leftover taste even better when eaten at home.
When we go to fancy restaurants, we always expect smaller portions but there have been a couple times that we were surprised with the amount they give us. We always like those that give us a good amount of food because it makes us feel that we got what we paid for. One San Francisco restaurant we went to, the food was good and everything but we literally had about 5 bites for an expensive entree. So we left the restaurant still a little hungry.

Denny's is not one of my favorite places to eat. But my kids and husband like their breakfast. So, every now and then we will go for breakfast on the weekend. The portions never seem "too big" for any of us. We usually are able to finish what's on our plate. Maybe portions differ from state to state or maybe we're just big eaters! Yikes.
