If an ATHEIST tells you "There is no God!" |
|
What will be your reaction? And what will you say to him/ her?
This discussion is for everybody to respond to, both atheists and believers.
Obviously, atheists will agree to this statement, so I hope you'll respond with your best atheistic manner. Like a "no-care" type of response.
Same goes with the believers. If you want to justify this with a Bible verse or a Koran verse, that's fine.
Ok, I'll go first.
I'm a believer, and either of these three statements will be my response:
1.) "Right, and there's no air to breathe as well!" 2.) "...and there's no explosion that has the ability to make all things unique!" 3.) "No God? So we all came from nothing? An Accident happened in the midst of darkness? Where does colors came from then?"

ronreyes (609) | 1 year ago | Have you seen the movie Evan Almighty? There's a scene where God told Evan (also Noah), if you want to change the world, do it in one Act of Random Kindness at a time. Pretty inspiring!
Act of Random Kindness= ARK That's what the movie is about. God told Evan to build an ARK.

fair enough.
but tell me that if you find yourself in conversation with a chap with antlers.

|
ronreyes (609) | 1 year ago | What do you mean?
| |
|
|
Galena (4053) | 1 year ago | it's hard to deny the existance of a being after you have a personal experience with them.
and seeing an antlered man isn't easily explained away.
so should an atheist tell me that my Gods don't exist, I'd understand that it's their opinion and that's fine. but if they encountered them personally, they'd probably change their mind. and unless they encountered them, why would they beleive in them.

63. Bluepatch (2451) | 1 year ago | That is somebody who is refusing the obvious and who wants to do his own thing. I'd like to warn all those out there who find this way of living so attractive and convenient that this life does end and when it does you can't come back and do it all over again. You can also try to remember that God is good so eventually it works for your happiness no matter what the horrors in this life. Don't be stupid!

Well it's all up to you! If you want to be a believer, that's fine. If not, that's also fine!
It doesn't matter what you believe but it's how you live that matters.
My advice is: Just live your life, and try your best not to become a criminal. LOL I mean, just live a good life and be a good person; and make sure you won't regret anything in the end. If God really does exist, then I'm sure He will be proud of you.

67. Ruthep (5928) | 1 year ago | "No one really knows" That is my answer. I have lots of question. I think questions are good. I don't believe that means I will go to hell if I question. That is another thing. God is supposed to believe in us whether or not we believe in Him so why is it if we don't believe unequivocally than that means we are going to hell. So much I don't understand.

69. animeniak (347) | 1 year ago | I do agree that there is no such thing as God, and here's why I say that, as a person who actually read some parts of the bible (but no koran):
1. The first few verses in the genesis just does NOT make any sense at all to me. Basically it talks about how God created earth and light and water and some extra living things, etc, etc. Okay.. that's great. But if there were no living things existed before God created them, then who wrote the Genesis, and how did that writer know such things, like what happened when, and the exact days? Did god tell those writers to write this and that on the bible? If so, then those words would be in red, wouldn't it? Or in some other format at least!! But it's in black...! That's just too mythical. 2. I know that there are disputes between the evolution of humans and the God's creation of humans, and to me, both of them are illogical. But if I was asked to choose which one I would believe in, then I would say evolution. Humans evolved from the apes back in those days, like thousands of years ago? That's pretty much what evolution is, that humans or some other living things evolved from the previous living things somehow, and basically, it's just a little theory. But when you say that God created the humans and other livings things from his image and dust or whatever, that is just too mythical, idealistic, and magical in some ways... can you possibly imagine things being created just from dust and your own personal image without doing any physical work? That's something I would like to see if it really exists... 3. Obviously, we all didn't come from nothing, at least the planets and the living things did come from something, or created from something, at least. The believers of God states that God is the only living "thing" who's perfect, and nothing else is. I really believe that NOT a single thing in this entire universe is perfect, and anything else outside of the universe, if it actually exists. I just think that from the latest technology we have is not developed enough to explain the existence planets and humans.
I'm sure that whatever I said may not make sense to some of you, I just put my thoughts there. Honestly I really don't care if I'm wrong about God's existence, maybe we will find out when we all die? I don't know.. LOL
anyway.. happy mylotting people~:)

ronreyes (609) | 1 year ago | I love your response! Ok, so here goes:
1.) Who wrote the Genesis? - Obviously, I don't really know. As you can see, the Bible has no author. It's not like the The Da Vinci Code that has the name Dan Brown on the cover or a Harry Potter book with the name J.K. Rowling printed on it. But I know that if something is written, then there's gotta be a writer. Now according to the New King James version of the Bible, the first five books of the Bible namely Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy, has a line snippet at the top stating "The First Book of Moses Called", "The Second Book...", and so on. Now did God instructed Moses to write these books? I don't know; and if ever I know, I'm not sure. But since the Bible is the "Word of God", who knows, maybe God really did told Moses to write what is supposed to be there. To state and to tell people what really did happened in the beginning.
2.) If evolution is indeed a fact, it only means that we're still in the continuous process of evolving. According to a science book that I've read, the first form of human beings appeared 198 million years ago. That's million of years! But how come Homo Sapiens are still Homo Sapiens? Even the early types of monkeys, which are the types of monkeys that we have now, doesn't show any sign of evolving. All animals still remain and looks as what they are before. The evidences which scientists had gathered was not really acceptable since they only gathered a few number, or sometimes only one in each transition. I mean if evolution really did occurred, well there's gotta be a million skulls of Homo Erectus, a million skulls of Homo Habilis, a million skulls of Homo Neanderthalensis, etc. that are buried everywhere. But they only found a small fraction of these skulls and they found them on different countries. And take note that there are different kinds of monkeys that are existing in the present time and they all have different shapes and sizes of skulls. The evidences may mean two things: 1.) It does support the theory. 2.) or they are just bunch of different skulls from different kinds of monkeys that we now see today.
Take a look at some of the shapes and sizes of skulls from various monkeys: http://images.google.com.ph/images?hl=tl&q=skull+of+gorilla&btnG=Maghanap+ng+Mga+imahe&gbv=2 http://images.google.com.ph/images?gbv=2&hl=tl&q=skull+of+chimpanzee&btnG=Maghanap+ng+Mga+imahe http://images.google.com.ph/images?gbv=2&hl=tl&q=skull+of+orangutan&btnG=Maghanap+ng+Mga+imahe http://images.google.com.ph/images?gbv=2&hl=tl&q=skull+of+baboon&btnG=Maghanap+ng+Mga+imahe http://images.google.com.ph/images?gbv=2&hl=tl&q=skull+of+snow+monkey&btnG=Maghanap+ng+Mga+imahe You can research for more kinds if you want.
Is it possible that those "evolution evidences" are just skulls of these monkeys and then was given by scientists an evolutionary term such as Homo Erectus, Homo Habilis, Homo Neanderthalensis?
3.) You said, "Obviously, we all didn't come from nothing, at least the planets and the living things did come from something, or created from something, at least"
So you do agree that we didn't came from nothing even though scientists say that before the big bang occurred, there was nothing. And you said that we are created from something, at least.
Well then, think about it! Go out and see the wonderful design of nature. Well if there's a design, there's gotta be a designer! So as to an invention/creation, there's gotta be an inventor/creator!
Anyway, I just stated my thoughts on this subject. But I'm not trying to make you believe into something that you don't want to believe. Whatever you're thinking right now, I respect you!
