U.S. builder hopes Mexicans will want homes made from shipping containers.Company targeting poor factory workers in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.Homes are 320 square feet, around $8,000 with kitchen, bath, sleeping area. Home builder wants factories to offer homes as part of workers' benefits. 40 feet long, 8 feet wide, 81/2 feet tall.
This may be a place to lay your head. I wouldn't call it a dream home. Would you? Do you think this is a good idea?

Some time ago I remember seeing a TV program here in the UK about a company which was building apartments using old shipping containers. I don't know if they are still doing so though.

Wow,
I only thought the shipping boxes and other big boxes where dream homes of little girls in their make believe little fantasies, Not for real people who work hard. What happens if these homes collapse
due to pressure of some kind link rain, wind even snow. Stranger things has happened I guess. Next they will be selling these over enlarged dollhouses to people here in the states for their kids to play in.I wouldn't call it a great idea, but for those who have no home it would be atleast something for them to call home.

How does that compare to a single wide trailer?
320 sqft isn't much. I know my husband and I had a 1 bedroom that was 400 sq ft and there is no way that we could fit more than 1 other person (and just a small child at that) in the home with us.

Single wide trailers are usually 16 feet wide, though there is some variation in that, they are not as narrow as 8 feet.

Dos the container dream home contain sanitary facilities? If yes it is a good idea to help people coming from poor families to have better housing.

That seems to be an odd sort of thing to dream for. This is, however, a different country.

I think it is a great idea. Epsecially if the family is extrmely poor, and has no home of their home, I think that it would be like a dream home to them. I think that it is definetely better than nothing.
