Hmmmm...I'm afraid you lost me here. What "whole thing" was a parody? McCain was indeed scheduled to appear on Letterman tonight and he indeed canceled, saying he had to head back to Washington to work on the financial crisis but instead he went a few blocks down the street to be interviewed by Katie Couric. It is what it is and if you don't think much should be "put into it" that's certainly your prerogative. Letterman is angry about it and that doesn't come from some liberal blog or columnist but from what I understand right from the horse's mouth.

Where exactly does it say that he's mad about it? I could find no reference of anything on it other than what was done on his show and I'm still not convinced it wasn't a parody.

Actually the most recent polls show Obama is stretching his lead. McCain doesn't get to dictate when and where the debates are to be held! Had Obama accepted every invitation McCain made McCain would have turned that against Obama as if to say he'd followed his lead and failed to come up with his own idea. The two weren't supposed to debate each other during the primaries, they were debating their opponents from their own respective parties. The debate scheduled for Friday night has been scheduled for quite some time and changing it now could put the scheduling for the remaining debates in jeopardy. They can work on this current crisis and still take part in the debate which I do think should focus on economic issues.

NO they weren't debating each other in the primaries. Obama made that claim to show he was capable of taking on McCAin in any situation. It was used against Hillary's claim the she could handle MCacin and Obama couldn't. MCCAin gave Obamas staff the schedule on his town hall meetings and invited obama to debate at any or all.
End result? None.
This debate is supposed to be about foreign policy the next one is the economy and domestic issues. The only two that Obama would agree to.
Idk what polls you are talking about the only independent poll I trust is gallup. They have Obama at a 3 point lead. A statistical dead heat. The only movement currently is amongst Hispanics and independents which are both moving towards McCAin.

Seems to me our country is close to going in to a depression,we have never been this close since the great depression,Obama has for 20 months talked about how bad people are having it in the United States and how awful the United States is, all that has came out of his mouth is negitive,bad,bad,bad,so I would think now 20 months later when things actually have gotten bad Obama would be working for his pay of $167,000 a year as a United State senator and be in Washington D.C. to over see that the American people are being protected.
John McCain encouraged Obama for months to go over sea being he had not been oversea for some years but loved to run down the Iraq war,so he finally when overseas and visited Iraq.
John McCain canceled his adds and campaign beginning tomorrow morning because he is flying to Washington D.C.
Obama like most everything comes out and makes going to Washington D. C. his big idea,screwed that all up just like when he said the pentagon canceled his visit to visit with our wounded soldiers in Germany,the pentagon came out and said Senator Obama was clearly briefed and understood clearly he could visit our wounded soldiers while in Germany but no camera would be allowed,the pentagon said senator Obama himself canceled his visit to visit with our wounded soldiers in Germany.
I just can not understand what this big deal is if John McCain canceled his visit with David Letterman,with our county in a crisis who the hell should really even care about such a thing silly.

I have spend 15 mintues of my life watching David Letterman which ten minutes was tonight Sept 24,2008,Letterman said John McCain canceled because he was headed to Washington,he did not seem upset nor angry and said nothing about being upset or angry nor did he say John McCain canceled with him and then went to be interviewed else where,so far I have not heard that any where but at this site,so can't say if it is true or false.
I'm smart enough to know fat cat rich David Letterman make his millions off cracking jokes at other people's expense seven night a week and that is why David Letteran is a rich fat cat.
I also know when David Letterman goes in to the voting booth and pulls that curtain shut he will not be voting for any any that has a plan to rip off 56.9 % of his income.
So you see David Letterman is very smart he makes $$$ making his jokes about John McCain and Gov Sarah Palin he makes money at both ends before he votes and after he votes,doing his show McCain and Plain bring in $$$ for Letterman's very fat bank account,at the other end senator John McCain will not riase his tax's so David Letterman is a winner coming and going,it is called very profitable bussiness.

So, Rose, why exactly do you always insist on doing this? In every discussion I see a post from you you're stepping on somebody else's response instead of responding to the OP yourself. Are you still a bit confused as to how myLot works? Oh, well, if I wish to discuss or debate something with you I guess I'm stuck with doing it your way. As usual I have several points I'd like to talk about. Can we do that - can I comment and ask questions regarding what you've said here? Wasn't it only as week or so ago that you said Americans are all a bunch of whiners, that Phil Gramm was right and that everything was just plain rosy? WOW, how did it turn around that quickly?

That's because it WAS his idea! Obama called McCain yesterday morning saying they should make a joint statement about working together in a non-partisan fashion to solve this financial crisis. McCain then turned around and said he was suspending his campaign.

Either you don't know who David Letterman is or you weren't paying any attention at all! If you didn't see that he was indeed quite up and angry you really don't have a clue. If you'd really watched you'd have seen when they showed McCain being made up as he sat in a chair facing Katie Couric in preparation of doing an interview with her.

Now it's 56.9% of his imcome? Where did you pull that figure from? I'm glad you know who someone else will be voting for; my feeling is that David Letterman, like many other wealthy and successful people, cares about other things besides himself like other Americans who aren't so fortunate, our environment, health care and the war.

According to the MCain camp, Obama called his office and left a message requesting that John McCain get in touch with him. They have the call logged.There was no subject matter discussed. I find it hard to believe that Obama would give that message to a staff member. If indeed that was what he was going to suggest.

kennyrose does not like when you step on her feet by actually participating in one of her own discussion and dont actually agree with her but boy does she scout every "liberal" discussion just so she can put her two cents in it without even staying on topic but will do anything just to campaign for McCain or Palin. You get called a typical liberal by her and Im really starting to get sick of this word, LIBERAL--kennyrose, how about you define a liberal IN YOUR OWN WORDS, because I think many of us would beg to differ with you as it does not describe the average citizen looking to make a living, hold a mortgage or even make ends meat with rent, raise a family, honestly living--oh wait,
