Mississippi middle school allows students to bring water into the classroom. Georgia elementary has taste tests, farm visits, school gardening and more. Maine school gets kids biking, canoeing, and kayaking. Do you know of any interesting healthy programs that your schools are participating in? What are they?

My son's school did this thing called Marathon Kids where the kids would stay after school, get a healthy snack and then they would go outside on the track and either walk or run for about an hour after school. My son did it for a few weeks before he got kicked out for acting up last school year. I don't know if they still do it or not.

Sounds like a good idea. Especially for kids that need to be a bit more active.

No, but it is nice to hear about those happening in Georgia and Maine. I think the local school district has some local park they take the kids to for education meet-the-animals type of class trips. I like those.

Our schools don't really do these sort of things really. Nothing exciting going on at the schools in my area. The only halfway exciting if yo can call it that is when my sister watched someone make apple butter in her classroom.

That is a great idea. I think alot of schools should allow this but it looks like there would be alot more restroom passes given out also from all of the ater the students drink. Our schools in this area do not allow it for sure.
