How do you wake up your kids in the morning?... |
|
Like for school... or if you have an early morning appointment...
Well, this has been my problem for the past few days... my 2 year old has been sleeping late at night... i don't understand where she gets the energy... after watching DVD... she would still want to play with her toys until like 11 pm... and the following day... it would be very difficult to wake her up...
Before... i would just turn on the tv... and let the Cartoon Channel or Barney program wake her up... but it's getting more and more difficult... yesterday she finally woke up at 10 am... and today at 9:30 am... good thing i have flexible time in the office or else i could have been fired...
Do you have the same problem?... how do you deal with it?...

1. IrishRose23 (536) | 1 year ago | My daughter never likes waking up for school. So, we've started a game of waking up. If everything is done in time (get up, get dressed, breakfast eaten, get into the car), and if I get a good report from her teacher, she gets a small and inexpensive prize. Since she has ADHD/ADD, I get a call from her teacher every afternoon to let me know how everything went. So, if she does extremely well, she gets that prize. There are days when she won't even worry about the prize... she wants to put a sticker on her Good Behavior chart:)

2. trixyteddy (967) | 1 year ago | Hi, Your little baby is just a 2-year-old. My son had a habit of waking up at 5am for his first milk, and then he would go back to sleep. He would again wake up at 8am. You could try waking her up gently and then picking her up and letting her nap on your shoulders for a while and then slowly move towards the bathroom. Once her face is wiped gently, she will be fully awake. This is just a suggestion. I used to do this when my son was 3 years old and had to go to play-school. At the same time, don't worry, everything will fall in place as she grows.

aseretdd (6851) | 1 year ago | My daughter can be very stubborn when it comes to waking up in the morning... today... she told me she doesn't want to get up yet... so i gave her 15 more minutes... and after that i kissed her and patted her gently... good thing i reminded her of the Jollibee shirt that she would were the whole day...
Thanks for the response... and i will surely try your advise maybe tomorrow morning...

4. lilybug (15308) | 1 year ago | My daughter is 20 months old. She pretty much wakes herself up around 7 am. My son is 8 years old. I have to wake him up for school every morning. I just go in and tell him that it is time to get up. He rolls back over and tries to go back to sleep, but I just remind him that if he does not get up he will miss the bus and he gets up.

aseretdd (6851) | 1 year ago | When my daughter was that age... she is the one who wakes me up in the morning... but nowadays... she has this habit of sleeping late at night... and that would make it very difficult for me to wake her up in the morning... i just hope this attitude will change soon...

5. julyteen (4405) | 1 year ago | i don't have children yet but based on my previous experience my mom wake me up by hugging me, and get me up from the bed. don't have choice because she brought me outside my room and talk to me if i will play with my cousins who sometimes wait me outside our gate. it works for me.

aseretdd (6851) | 1 year ago | That is a very good strategy... before... asking my daughter what she want to watch is enough... but nowadays... it is really getting very difficult to get her away from the bed every morning...

6. eihdra (854) | 1 year ago | My eldest is 9 years old. He goes to a tutoring class at 9am and school at 11:30..He was hard to wake up at first but then after a few days got on the schedule..
I usually tap him and call his name in a whisper because my baby might be awakened by the sound of my voice. And if he doesn't budge, I'll kick him...kidding... If he doesnt wake up once, I'll do it over and over again, til he opens his eyes and sit up..

aseretdd (6851) | 1 year ago | At nine years old... that is the best we can do... but with my daughter... forcing her to wake up would mean a lot of crying and shouting... and even kicking... so i try to lay in bed with her... and gently nudge her... or give her lots of kisses... sometimes that works... but sometimes not...

7. lynnemg (3584) | 1 year ago | Moe often than not, my oldest son wakes uo on his own then wakes up the other kids. In those times he does not, I will go to their rooms and sing what we call, "the wake-up song" to them to get them out of bed with a smile on their faces. My Mom started the song when I was younger and I just carried it over to my kids.

aseretdd (6851) | 1 year ago | Your oldest son must be a very responsible person... to be able to wake up in the morning... and wake the others up... i hope i also have a wake up song... but i am afraid i do not have a good voice for any simple song...

8. celestial052506 (1260) | 1 year ago | That is my problem, waking my kids up in the morning. They must have to be early so that they will not be late for school but the problmem is.. they wake up late and they are very slow in preparing like taking a bath, eating breakfast, etc. I end up always having high pitch everyday calling them to wake up becaue it's time to go. I don't know how to solve that problem either because it has been my problem since they started schooling.

aseretdd (6851) | 1 year ago | What time does your children sleep at night... my problem stemmed form the fact that my daughter sleeps around 11 pm at night... and if she would only sleep early... like 8 pm... waking her up in the morning wouldn't be a problem at all...

9. cher913 (13480) | 1 year ago | both my daughters are older (11 & 15) but that doesnt mean that it is easier waking them up in the morning. first, i make sure they have adequate sleep (even if it does mean they go to bed before their friends do) and second, they both have cd alarm clocks to wake up to that are set fairly loud.

aseretdd (6851) | 1 year ago | I experienced flying while it is raining... and it was quite a bumpy ride... but as soon as the plane was away from the storm clouds... everything was fine... i don't think your flight will leave if the weather is not very good... but if it does... just prepare yourself from all that turbulance...

|
aseretdd (6851) | 1 year ago | I am sorry about the first comment... made a mistake... since i have a lot of mylot windows open...
Having adequate sleep is really the key to my problem... and my daughter is not having that because she sleeps around 11 pm at night... i really wonder where she gets all that energy... but good thing you have a nice method of making your kids wake up early in the morning...
Thanks for the response...

aseretdd (6851) | 1 year ago | Thank you very much for the link... i didn't know that there is such a job as a sleep technologist... i guess there are not that many around...

|
teapotmommommerced (5724) | 1 year ago | Yes I had to take a test to become a registered sleep technologist. It is such a hard test over 60% of the people have to take it more than once. I passed it the first time.

|
|
aseretdd (6851) | 1 year ago | It must be a very difficult test... and you must be very smart to pass it on your first try... so Congratulations!!!
