Each of us have our own opinion about the bailout issue. Our arguing here about the issue won't do any good So please call your Senator today to let your opinion be known by someone who can do something. Please call the Capitol Switchboard to tell your Senators how you feel: 202-224-3121. Its time to make our voices be heard.

1. evanslf (388) | 1 year ago | I would ask senators and members of congress to read this article and get on with it, because if we don't pass this bailout we could well be in for something much worse (at least if history is any guide)

And if they vote it down a second time, I think we can kiss our economy goodbye!

2. spalladino (9043) | 1 year ago | I heard on the news yesterday that the switchboard was overwhelmed with calls and that the mail server had to be shut down due to the incoming email traffic. I've always believed in letting my state representatives know my views on important issues but I think folks will have a hard time getting through today.

3. xParanoiax (4937) | 1 year ago | I've emailed 'em several times the past few weeks here, and I'm promoting the protests.
But I think you're awesome for making the point: talking about this is fine and dandy, but if we don't DO something...then...*shrugs*
I believe inflation is the bottom line and have told them as much.

4. mehale (1302) | 1 year ago | Yes, this is a very good idea. Maybe if we flood the switchboard with calls and backlog their systems with emails SOMETHING will finally be done that we can agree on! I have been sending a lot of emails lately, but have not gotten any responses as of yet.

5. evanslf (388) | 1 year ago | I've just found out that the switchboards and the servers in Congress are overwhelmed by the sheer volume of email and telephone traffic. So you may find it a bit of a strugglet to contact your senator and congressman! Perhaps a petition with many thousands of signatures would cut down this traffic and get through!!!

mehale (1302) | 1 year ago | Yes, so far when I try to call I get a recording saying that "ALL CIRCUITS ARE BUSY, please try your call again later"! Maybe they need to get more phone lines or quit making the American people so darn mad! LOL I will keep trying though!

KissThis (2636) | 1 year ago | I was up early this morning calling. It took me a while but I did finally get through. I am hoping that it gets voted down. I want to try Reps. Peter DeFazio (D-OR) and Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) suggestion before we go ahead with a bailout. If you go to loudobbs.com you can see their interview with Lou from last night. Here is a basic run down of what they had to say.
October 1, 2008 Bailing Out the Bailout The irresponsibility and failure of leadership in Congress has already sent the stock market to a record decline this week. The proposed Wall Street rescue plan failed due to the political maneuvering of a few, despite wide bipartisan support. But the proposed bailout was a disgrace. It left taxpayers on the hook for the excesses of Wall Street, even though economists said the effects of the plan wouldn’t trickle down to ordinary Americans.
Reps. Peter DeFazio (D-OR) and Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) joined the program last night to discuss a different plan – one based on the recommendations of former head of the FDIC William Issac. Instead of paying billions of dollars for Wall Street’s worthless debt, this plan calls for a sensible re-regulation of the markets and a mechanism similar to the Resolution Trust Corporation, which was set up after the savings and loan failures of the 1980s.
