For everyone who saw my last Discussion about Gissi being at the Vet's last week here is an Update Gissi was ok for a few Days after his Visit to the Vet But then on the Wednesday I noticed that he started to itch, get irritated and not himself again. I thought it might just be a bit of a Habit with the itching, then Wednesday Night all he wanted was to lie on my Lap, be close to me and he was just not interested in anything. Thursday Morning he seemed to have picked up a bit, then by Thursday afternoon he really started to go down again, itching, restless, on my lap wanting to be hugged and held all the time, I rang the vet when they opened which was at 6pm, they asked if I thought he would be ok till Morning and I said I would think so, he had the first appointment for the Morning. That Night I saw a couple of Fleas on him which surprised me as I always do his Treatment, due to the fact that he has a Flea Allergy, but when the Vet looked last week he could not find any on Gissi. Anyway I went to bed at 11pm as I had to get up early to take little Man to the Vet. At 2am Gissi woke me up and he was going mad with itching, so I rubbed him, which eased some.I sat for an Hour just rubbing him, it seemed to ease, I turned of the Lights and was about to fall asleep when he jumped of my Bed and ran in the Living room, he was crying and he was rolling on the Floor, he was scratching and crying, he ended up causing himself to have a few Fits through the stress, I ended up staying up with him most of the Night, it was hurting me to see him like this and not being able to make it go away, I was wishing for the time to go faster so I could get him to the Vet. Well the outcome at the Vet, he checked Gissi over from top to bottom, we already knew about the Heart, and the Vet said everything was ok, Anyway he gave Gissi a Steroid Injection and also a course of Steroid Tablet for the Week, Gissi got the Flea Treatment and also Worm Treatment all in one, he has a bit of an Ear Infection to. The Vet explained, because he got so bad the week before his Amune System was not working 100% that is why he ended up with the Fleas and that Gissi got stressed during the Night because of his Allergy to them, so as from now he will be going to the Vet every Month to have the Treatment done by the Vet He is better now, sleeping a lot as the Steroid Tablets knock him out, but he is recovering, not shaking his Head that much any more which tells me his Ear Infection is going to Please never ignore your Pet if they of all sudden act different, as they are trying to tell you something

Aww--poor Gissi. Yes, it's extremely disturbing to see our "babies" suffer for any reason. I'm just wondering though, he's maybe not having an allergic reaction to the medications and flea treatments themselves is he? Since most commercial or vet strength flea treatments can actually affect a pet more. I wrote a whole article at Associated Content about the dangers of flea treatments as many are highly toxic Give a hug to Gissi for me, okay?

No as he did not get the Flea Treatment the week before as we could see none, so of course if they where there already he had a reaction to them, he is doing better now so I hope that is what the Problem was

I hope he gets better real soon Gabs, he's a right worrier isn't he! And yes you are right when our pets act differently it's their little way of telling us, hey mum, hey dad something's up, if only pets could talk eh! Give him a special Hug from Wolfie xxx

Hi gabs, It's good to see you here, but I'm sorry about poor little Gissi having to go through this. Fleas can be such a nuisance, at the very least, and it's really hard when some sort of major problem is caused because of them. I'm glad you were able to get him treated by a vet, and that he'll be having the treatment this way from now on. I know you take such good care of him, and he's a very blessed little guy because of this. I'm continuing to keep a close eye on Anna Belle, since her illness this past summer. She does vomit at times still, but is back to her old self again really. She's eating and drinking normally again, for which I'm very grateful. Much love to you, and Big Hugs to both you and Gissi.

Good to know Gabs. And until Gissi starts looking rather 'sad' in the pics you send me, I'm not going to worry overmuch about him. He has the best caretaker in the world in you, and he can't help but get better and remain the handsome little devil and heartbreaker he is! LOL Give him a hug and a rub for me............

He will look for work up there, and hopefully find a job easier in his chosen field. do keep in touch gabs.

Hmmmm - this is the first actual posting that I am making that will count for "today." Don't let him near the computer, or mylot, unless he plans to post & that's it. It seems that there is another flame war, this time, over the American election, & most of the inflammatory posts were by those who are supporting Obama. I've been around, reporting like crazy. Anyway, just took a break from that to hope for a speedy recovery, & to tell him not to blow up the place.

Oh Gabs, you must have been worried sick seeing Gissi like that - I know exactly how you must have felt. As with our children, we just want to make them all better and take away any pain they might be going through; our pets are no different. I'm glad that Gissi is feeling a little better after his visit to the vet again, and it's a good idea to take him every month for his Treatment to be done by the vet. At least you know he will be protected from those nasty fleas. Give Gissi a scratch from me, and I hope he is back to his normal self again soon.

Hi Abbey He is doing better so I hope that this time he stays better, he has to stay on the Steroids for 7 Days It was awful to see him suffer like that I was holding him like a Baby when he would let me, when he was on my Lap he would just put his little Head on my Chest Hugs to you

I think that it's wonderful, gabs, that you are so attentive to your Gissi! He is so lucky to have you. You're absolutely right about watching out for signs when things are not right with your pet. Maybe your discussion has alerted someone that will be helped by it. Just continue to shower Gissi with lots of love and affection and he will be fine.

Poor little gissi, that is really horrible to hear that he has been poorly. It is such a worry when they are ill. I was lucky with my dog, she was never ill a day in her life until just before the end of her life and then it was awful I just did not know what to do for her. I am glad to hear that gissi is now on the road to recovery and I bet he will be taking advantage of all the extra fussing he has had!!

Well it was a shock about the Heart Murmur but you have to remember that he had been beaten badly in the past so I suppose it is to be expected, the good News is though that the Vet totally checked him and there is nothing else damaged, so that is good But if you would have seen him and heard him early hours Friday it would have torn at your Heart Good to see you Sweetie
