My baby is about 9 months old. I'm trying to get him used to finger foods. I feed him some Gerber Puffs, and biter buscuits and things of that nature. Tonight he had a pizza crust for the first time! He's loving it. How old was your baby when they started eating finger foods?

my kids where around that age. i think maybe a little older but that was just because at 9 months they weren't quite ready for finger foods. my oldest used to have trouble with finger foods and choke alot so we waited. Now our son was probably close to 9 months. he's a good eater.

We have an occasional problem with choking. None of my older kids ever choked on anything, but I think I waited longer with them just because I was nervous about the choking. With my toddler I know I always gave him things I was sure would be easy to mash up. I never gave him cheerios until after all his teeth had come in because they are harder to mash with gums. But this one loves real food. He's not too crazy about pureed baby foods. He wants to eat what we eat. He has a bunch of teeth already, but all in the front. None of his back ones yet.

I think the same age as your baby did. We introduced her to all food slowly, one at a time. So that if there would be an allergic reaction, we would know which triggered it. We still don't make her eat shrimps for fear of having an allergic reaction.. She's two now. maybe when she's a bit bigger.

I don't really have to worry about food allergies. Nobody in my family is allergic to anything. My 2 year old eats everything we eat, regardless of what it is.

She was seven months old when she started real food. She had been losing some weight and went into the hospital for tests. When she got out, I put her on regular food cause the finger food was not enough for her body. She ate chicken, pizza and other regular foods like oatmeal, veggies etc. even without teeth. Of course, kid sized bites. By nine months she had her first two bottom teeth and could eat more foods like tacos. Pizza is a good first food. Sounds like he's right on track.

My kids started out on finger food around 6 or 7 months actually. Both started eating baby food around 4 months old though. By 6 months they both had several teeth and took to eating chunks of food pretty well.

I am terrible at answering questions like this because I can never remember the answers! I really should keep one of those baby books where you record important milestones. I remember that he started on solids really early, because it was at my grandmother's house. I never intended that he have solid food so young (less than three months), but he just about stole it off my plate whilst I was eating my dinner. I really can't remember when he was up to taking finger foods though.
