Would You Shoot?

Thank you for the response zukepr. I feel the same way you do outwardly, but sometimes I explore the deep recesses of my mind and come up questioning myself. It would not be something I would take lightly. Imagine, actually taking the life another human being. It's hard conceptualise it.

I agree 100%. We should protect what is ours. There are way to many oeople out there that break and entr anothers home. If you are home and the robber is unaware of it HE wil no doubt shoot YOU so bea the bast### to the punch and shoot him.

Yeah!! Tell like it is! Hey! What if you knew the guy? What if he was your next door neighbor. Hey! What if it was a woman with a knife in her hand?

There are very few people that I would like to shoot in cold blood. Unless you're an individual with a very long history of angering me, I would be very reluctant to kill you.

So, to answer your question about if it was someone I knew well, I'd say...I would try to talk the person out of causing more chaos, unless that person decides to kill me, in which case, I'd try to incapacitate that person instead of killing him/ her.

And even then, I think I'd have the jitters before and after. But I will agree with zukepr in a way; my home is my sanctuary, and those that disturb its peace must suffer the consequences.

well if its someone I know I would obviously ask WTH they are doing first but if they so much as flinched wrong I would still shoot

Thanks for your comments folks. It's nice to read real honest answers to situations like this. It's very direct and honestly refreshing.

I think that if it came down to me and my family's lives or the life of a stranger endangering me and my family, not to mention, having a complete disregard for one's things, YEP!
I never want to have to make that choice, but I would. I would suggest that anyone coming into my domain, threateningly, better haul some "tail" right back out, or they will have to feel my terror, and my "preservation action".

Do not get me wrong, human life is precious. But I am here as a parent and guardian of my children, and I will dutifully do that job. Not to mention, I do not want to die, either.

Now that's a possibility and an alternative. But I would suspect you would have to be pretty good with a gun. Those who aren't that good might have a problem hitting something of small mass such as a leg or an arm.

If you have a gun, and cannot hit an arm or a leg, then I don't believe you should have one, since it would be in pretty close quarters. I personally wouldn't shoot someone that came into my house unless I knew they were coming ot hurt me. And I would shoot them to make them unable to come after me, not to kill.

That's an alternative to be sure and a good one as long as you are comfortable with it. Thanks for the comment.

Thanks for the response. So you would fire a warning shot first. That's not a bad idea as long as you fire it from a covered position, otherwise he might fire back thinking you just missed. And he would fire more out reaction rather than figuring out what the shot was for. Still a good idea.

It's great that you are so confident because that is what it's going to take to protect youself. Whatever you do must be deliberate without thinking. I would probably be dead because I would hesitate before shooting.

If a person broke into my house he would probably get killed accidentally if he didn't kill me first. I probably would be firing all over the place being so nervous.

You must be very brave or very confident in strangers that come into your house unannounced. I would hate to be a thief. I would never know what awaited me when I broke into a house. Thanks for the response.

You are more than welcome hon! I just chose life over death is all. I remember that my dad told me to not be scared. God didn't invent fear--don't live that way. This little one was my last shot at motherhood and I dearly love her. I felt I was in my rights. Of course, I went to court and almost got charged with felonious assault and attempted murder. I decided to tell the judge how it was. I almost got jailed but I think that when I explained to him that both of these men were over 200lbs and 6 foot +, and My daughter and i didn't even rack up to 110 lbs The perps gun was all I had in defense. Now, I have a license to keep my guns in the house. Keep your head up and never fear! Have a good day!

I'm sooo glad it worked out for you. I don't trust the courts to always do the right thing. There's so many ways for the courts to work against the victim it's pathetic. Thanks again.

Hello Opal, It never hurts to be prepared. Do it, you can learn not to be scared of them! Like they say, Knowlege is power, the more you know the less risk you could be at! And I hope it never goes that way, but if you do get into a situation like that, You can be prepared! Good Luck!!

Thanks for your response Opal26. No one wants to be in a situation like that but we must be prepared if it ever happens. It's our duty to protect our family. Children are the most defenseless things on earth and we are given the responsibility to protect them. Even baby kittens have teeth and claws. Humans babies have nothing but their parents. So be prepared and it seems like you are.
