I had my first cat of my married life for over eighteen years. She was a six month wedding anniversary gift. I named her Butterfly because she looked just like a picture my mom put in my little sister's room of a kitten sniffing a butterfly. She had little red balls, jacks balls that she played with. When my husband had an overseas tour of duty, we lived in a house where my dad had an office. He had a tomato plant in the window. Each time a tomato turned red, Butterfly picked it to play with. I know they do not see color as such, but they do see shades and she could tell green from red. My mom had an old tea kettle that had a lid about six inches across. She used it to water plants and left the lid off. I drove cross country with Butterfly to stay with my folks, and she ran, as soon as she was let out of the car and found that kettle. She crawled into it, and would stick her paw out the spout. I had to have her put to sleep because of abscessed teeth.

I feel for you....there is such a great loss when we lose one of our furry friends. I had a dog named Reggie....well on the front of our house...there is a little porch. You can access that porch through a bedroom window. I was working my second job one day when the police called me...the dog was out on the porch (no railing). One of my neighbors had called and were afraid he would fall off....well when the squad car arrived...he would climb back into a window my son had left open...when they would leave....he would go back out on the porch and bark at everyone that went by! I had to leave work to put him back in the house and close the window! How embarassing!

Sorry to hear about your loss. When my cat was a kitten I lived in a house that had hardwood floors in the bedroom. I think my cat was a reincarnated hockey player because at night when I would try to sleep I could hear here batting clumps of her litter across the floors. She would run all over the room like she was playing hockey. All I would here was the litter sliding all over the hardwood floor with her running after it over and over.

I'm sorry to hear your loss. Words could not describe how special your pet to you. I hope you can go through your sad moment and can get over it someday. Ok, a joke...let me think...ok here's one but I don't know if it is funny to you.
A Woman was out golfing one day when she hit the ball into the woods.
She went into the woods to look for it and found a frog in a trap.
The frog said to her, 'If you release me from this trap, I will grant you three wishes.'
The woman freed the frog, and the frog said, 'Thank you, but I failed to mention that there was a condition to your wishes.
Whatever you wish for, your husband will get times ten!'
The woman said, 'That's okay.'
For her first wish, she wanted to be the most beautiful woman in the world.
The frog warned her, 'You do realize that this wish will also make your husband the most handsome man in the world, an Adonis whom women will flock to'.
The woman replied, 'That's okay, because I will be the most beautiful woman and he will have eyes only for me.'
So, KAZAM-she's the most beautiful woman in the world!
For her second wish, she wanted to be the richest woman in the world.
The frog said, 'That will make your husband the richest man in the world. And he will be ten times richer than you.'
The woman said, 'That's okay, because what's mine is his and what's his is mine.'
So, KAZAM-she's the richest woman in the world!
The frog then inquired about her third wish, and she answered, 'I'd like a mild heart attack.'
Moral of the story: Women are clever. Don't mess with them.

I am sorry but this is a sore subject for me. I have many memories that I will treasure of my dog. I can always hear him playing rough and biting gently my hands. Pretending that I am in pain he would release it immediately. I have many pictures of him, I cannot forget him. © ronaldinu 2008

Sorry for any pain caused by this sore subject being addressed. I can so relate, my friend.
This was my feeble attempt at coping with my loss. It may have helped me a bit. Not intended to be at anyone else's expense.
Of course you will never forget him, and you shouldn't. He lives on in your heart.

I'm very sorry I didn't get here sooner. I remember starting to read this, and then something must have taken me away from the computer. I'm deeply saddened to hear about your Mocha, and don't know what else to say. I'm in tears here, just thinking of your loss.
Many years ago now, we lost a very beloved kitty. Her name was Fluffy, but for some reason we called her 'Beatle.' We'd had her since she was born, and she was very special to all of us. My mom who'd passed away several years before, loved her so much. We had to put our house up for sale, and my brother, sister and I, all went our separate ways (home wise). We couldn't take 'Beatle' with us, but I managed to get her a wonderful home with a dear friend of mine. This way I was able to visit her as often as I could. She was welcomed into my friend's family, and lived to be a really good age. She passed away in her sleep, of natural causes. I still miss her, whenever she comes to mind, and I was around thirty then.
Love and Hugs to you.

You're very welcome. That is truly sad, the way all of this is affecting Holly. I do hope she's able to move past this.
It's a good thing you've got your friend's baby shower to look forward to, as well as your pending trip to Maui.
Our Anna Belle isn't doing so well these days. I came downstairs this morning to find that she'd thrown up, yet again. Far too many times of late, and this is what led to us nearly losing her, this past August. I am so hoping that she'll be able to still be with us, until at least the end of the year. It's so hard, as you know.

Oh, someonesmom, you are a very kind friend.....getting here as soon as you could.
Thanks for your nice message. And for sharing a story with me about Beatle.
I thought I was prepared for this to happen, had prepared my son, etc. But I was thrown and caught off guard by the way that my remaining dog(Holly) grieved. I knew she would miss her, but it was so pitiful watching her mourn.... marking spaces where Mocha used to lay, and acting sick herself.
I was relieved to have a trip planned to visit a friend, thinking it would be good for me to get away but then we started worrying that Holly would think she had lost me too. She seemed to understand that I was just away but that Mocha was actually 'gone'. It is so sad.
Thanks, hon, for the Love and Hugs.

So sorry I missed this one!
Between working and looking for a new Job and helping my parents move it has been a very week!
I just want to say that I understand what you are going through as I have lost many pets aver the years!
My Mom used to have a cat named smokey who would lick all of the cheese off a cheesie or all of the salt off a chip and then not eat it! LOL He loved to lay in the window sill in the kitchen so that he could see out when anyone came up the drive way! He was very loving!
I hope things get just a little easier for you each day!
Take Care My Friend!

Awwwwwww, heavens. Casey's 91. Wow! It's so sad to witness these things happening to our beloved pets, no matter what their age. I know it'll be hard for your parents to have to let Casey go when the time comes, and for you too. Thanks for sharing all of the 'cute' things he does. It did give me a much needed smile. I hope things go okay for you at work today. Hang in there! Hugs.

I laughed right out loud reading about Casey, quite a character.
Haha, he makes them mind their manners and always push their chair in when leaving the table.
Thanks for the laughs.

Aww--I'm sorry to hear about Mocha and I understand how you must be feeling. I've had mainly cats ever since I was five years old...I'm now 52 so I've had a lot of deaths in the "family" and one never really gets over it, and some of my cats I remember more than others. In fact, slowly but surely I'm writing a blog as a tribute to the many furbabies I've had and include photos of them
One kitty I still remember with fondness and love, and still miss is Twinkie. She was the "grand dame" of the home and never let us forget it. Most of the cats have always been short-haired domestic cats, but Twinkie must have had some pure bred in her, like Angora as she had long, thick fur and a slight pushed in nose typical of Angora's. Talk about pampered. She loved feasting on Brie cheese, often ate my special birthday dinner I make for myself, beouf bourgningon served on couscous. She didn't care for the other cats to share her meals with her or even drink from the huge water bowl..if they dared to she give them a clout on the head. She was the supreme actress for attention, and would often sit herself up on her hind quarters and raise her right paw when she wanted attention. She's been gone now almost three years, and I still miss her.

I can't make you laugh but I can give you some comfort. Two years ago I lost my beloved Petey, I'd had him 10 years and he was more than just a dog, he was my best friend. When he passed away my life fell apart...I missed him so much, I couldn't quit crying and the pain was just about unbearable. I couldn't eat, sleep or think about anything. About 3 weeks after he passed away a friend sent me something in my email. It was a poem about the Rainbow Bridge. I read it and realized that my Petey was watching over me and waiting for me just across the bridge. It made a complete change in me...knowing that he was there and we'd be together again gave me hope, faith and peace. I keep a pic of him on my desk and by my bed and I talk to him every night and share my day with him. He may be gone but he is still my very best friend. Here is a song that says all my feelings for him and the Rainbow Bridge poem. My prayers of comfort go out to you.

My heart goes out to you. I have three cats( Luke, Leia, Lovie) they are all crazy! We found 2 them(Luke,Leia) in the the shrubs next to my house. Anyways Luke hes the male he's the clown of them all. When he was young he loved small spaces. Well one day my husband was off to work he was in a rush that day so he didnt have time to look over or check if he was missing anything that he needed for work that day.. So he grabs his backpack and off he went. Well 15 mins on the road he hears small noise which he couldnt tell where it was coming from. So he turns the radio up and 20 mins later he pulls into his work place gets out of the car and he notices Luke sitting in the back seat! LOL My husband called me and told me how Luke must have crawled into his backpack so I had to pick Luke up. My husband now looks in his backpack before leaving. Luke still get in there and naps. Again my sympathy for the loss of your loved one!
