It is the duty of the government to provide the public with pure drinking water.Water scarcity problem is faced by people all around the globe and we are paying lot of money to get drinking water.I think the government should provide pure drinking water to public with free of cost.I am from India and we have to pay good amount monthly as water bill.

As others here have said water here in the US is not free. In my area it cost $13.44 for 3000 galons of water. Then it also cost $6.86 to have the water come to our homes and $6.86 to maintain the sewer system to have the waste removed pluse $13,41 per gallon for it to be carried off the waste treatment plants. If a person has their own well then they don'r have to pay for the water. But living in most cities people don't have private wells. A person can get free drinking water at public parks and other public facilities for free. But the city has to pay for it then. One can buy bottled water if one choses too, but most times it's not any different from what comes out of the tap. If we depend on the government to provide our water then we have to pay more taxes for it.

Our water is not free here in the United States. We have to pay dearly for every drop of it that we use. We also have to pay a sewer bill to for used water.
