I ran across this article and with all the government money flying out of Washington and everyone lining up for the "free Money" from the government this article is very relevant today. At the end of the article is a story about Congressman Crockett from TN. As the saying goes if we fail to learn from history then we are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past. http://www.newswithviews.com/Mary/starrett73.htm

Our elected officials have never really respected the fact that it is not thier money to give. Good cause or not, it is not their money to give away. It's not their money coming out of their bank accounts so they could really care less.

When we are not free to risk what is ours then we lose our freedoms. We need to be responsible for ourselves and not always depend upon the government. If I decide to take a job that pays $10.00 per hour and then want more pay I need to change jobs or careers not demand that the government help pay me more.

We are worried about socialism taking over the country when, in reality, It already has.

Ah... proof! That politicians today are much the same as they were then.

There is a difference Davy Crockett did offer to donate his money and suggested others do the same. They did not follow his example.

Of course it isn't their money, it is the taxpayers money. The only thing that Congress is authorized to do is spend the money on necessary government expenditures... and charity and social programs do not qualify. Spreading the wealth is not a legitimate function of government, neither is funding for education or the many other things the government have been doing these many years. Every dollar taken in excess of what is absolutely necessary to run the affairs of the country is a dollar stolen from the taxpayers.

It seems that once they get in power they have no reguard for the US Constitution. Even Senator Biden did not know what his duties as VP would be or where to find them. There was a report out that was talking about how much money the government was losing because of employer based Health Plans and IRA's not being taxed. They think they have a right to the money. One of the things that should be done is we should pay taxes quartly and not have withholding.
