Did you give your baby Cheerios?

Cheerios is one of the most common baby snacks I've heard of. Many parents feed them to their babies as a first finger food type snack. Did you?
I've never given my kids Cheerios. I think they're too crunchy and hard to chew for a baby who doesn't have all their teeth. I actually give my little on Kix. They're easier to chew, and become mushy a lot quicker so the baby can mash them with his gums. But they're still just as healthy as Cheerios.
What cereal did you feed your baby?

For a snack, Cheerios went everywhere with me and my kids. They went with my daughter and her kids, too. They never had a problem with them. They get mushy from the saliva and there isn't too much chewing. We used to put them in a little covered dish to take in the car on trips, too. I've never tried Kix. Is there sugar on Kix?

No there is no sugar. They taste a little sweet, but they're just as good for you as Cheerios, only I think softer. We get Kix through WIC and they only allow completely healthy foods, so I totally trust Kix to be healthy.
I never did trust Cheerios because I find them too crunchy, so I never tried them for any of my kids.

My youngest is only 10 months old with 7 teeth. I have him on a lot of finger foods already, and even give him some of the foods we eat at dinner, but I still don't trust the cheerios yet. I go for the foods that I know he can mash with his gums, although he loves using his front teeth to chew.

I don't think I really gave my son Cheerios much as a kid. As I recall, he didn't really like them. I do remember I used to get him those little crunchy snack things like cereal that they sell in the baby food section. They come in a little plastic canister and they are crunchy, but they also dissolve a bit with moisture so they are easier to eat for kids that don't have all their teeth yet.

Are you thinking about puffs? I give those to my son as well, he loves them. Both of my younger boys have been hooked on those.

Yes, that's what they are. It's been a couple of years since I've bought them. I haven't set foot in the baby food section for quite some time.

Lucky you. I have a 2 year old and 10 month old, as well as 3 older kids. I'm in the baby section every week.

I actually didn't really give my kids cereal when they were babies. I tried it but they seemed to have a hard time with anything I tried. My oldest choked on everything. I think kix is a good choice for babies too. It may be round but it is small and they melt in your mouth.

My toddler choked on a lot of things as well. I had to forbid hubby from feeding him chips, because everytime the boy got a chip he'd choke, but he'd still beg for them when someone else was eating one. This was of course after he was a year old. He also could not eat Chex Mix, and I'm still leary about giving it to him. He chokes on the crunchier pieces.

I didn't use cheerios either, until he was much older and with teeth. I gave mine the Gerber fruit and veggie puff snacks. They came in a nice sized hard container that fit well in the diaper bag. I was never without them. Ha.

My youngest loves those puffs. I get him the puffs, the dried fruit snacks, and Gerber Crunchies ever week. The Crunchies are like cheese doodles. Those are his favorite.

I always gave mine porridge until they were a lot older. Mine all started weaning at really young ages I think the youngest was about 6 weeks when he first started needing more substance in his diet. So I would always start them on baby rice and then move them onto porridge, the baby stuff though with it being smooth.

I gave mine baby cereal too when they first started on solids, but I've been a bit more lax with the last 2 kids. I hate to sit there and feed them, I always look forward to them being able to eat finger foods. I haven't fed him baby cereal in quite some time, now I give him Kix and banana slices for breakfast.

No i didnt gvie him cheerios, at least not til he was about yr and half old, and then i would have it in milk and let them soften a bit before feeding him.. When i wanted to give him something he could feed himself, i gave him the gerber graduates products they had, such as the gerber graduate fruit meltaways, they looked like cereal but no need to chew, they melt in their mouth.

I give those to my son as well. Not the meltaways, but there are some puffs and some freeze dried fruits I give him, as well as the gerber crunchies, they are like cheese doodles. He loves them.

I did give my daughter cheerios. She loved them. Plus they were recommended by her doctor. It was a great starter meal. She likes them to this day.
