Home Security...  

My home security system is my four dogs. They let me know when anyone is within 500 feet. The reason I like the dogs is because I am an animal lover anyway but they make so much racket when anyone comes to the house people think they are goig to eat them or something. Actually they are all very loving animals who love everyone once they get to know them. So if I say its ok they settle down and just want to be loved and appreciated like any animals do. We are also the only home on our block that has a street light in front. Those two things a lit area and barking dogs are a pretty good deterent to any criminal actions. They tend to stay away from those two things. We really don't have a lot of crime in our area who knows maybe the dogs drove them all away. LOL

We do not have a lot of crime in our area. But I have two dogs, locks on the doors and windows, a baseball bat and several guns. I also have a kitchen full of knives. In my bathrooms are the cans of hairspray which can be used for self-protection. Quite frankly, there are a lot of things in my house that can be used as weapons.

We have an alarm system and I've had it since I was broken into in the mid-1990's. We use it when we are away from the house. My mom got it a bit before I did when the then vacant house next to hers was found to have a transient living in it. Since she lived alone, she set it when she was in for the night as well.

I have security lights that go off when someone passes under them. I have two little yippy yap dogs that will let me knwo by growling and going in circles thats omeone is near that shouldn't be. I also have a huge dog cage sitting on my carport. If the size of that portable cage doesn't make one wonder hwo big the dog inside the house is..I odn't think anything would sacre the itruder. Of yeah, we also have two guns in the house.

Like Royal mentioned above, I have a whole houseful of things that can be used as weapons, I also have some big dogs with mental problems and a distrust of strangers.
ANYTHING can be used as a weapon in a pinch, even sugar or flour thrown into an intruder's eyes will by you a few precious seconds to go find help or the next item to defend yourself with. Got chairs? Clobber the bad guy with furniture! Paper weight? Heavy blunt object!

Well I have it all but the bat.

My son used to have a big stick ya know the saying walk tal and carry a big stick well he got a good size limb off a tree about 3 inches around and whittled the handle down to were he can hold it good.

We have a security system in our home. What is nice is if, let's say, someone follows me to my home, and makes me hit the code to disarm the alarm, if I put in the wrong code, it does not go off, it just acts like it is off and they send the police. I also have a button to press for ambulance, fire and then police.

The remote one, on my key chain, has a panic button, too.

A bat will only help if they do not have a gun. I wish I still had my dog, as they are a deterrent, but we cannot right now with our busy lives.

What is nice about our system is all of our doors and windows announce that we have an alarm system and a sign by our mail box. It says, "Secured by ADT", which is a well-know alarm company. The police say that is a huge deterrent and usually crooks will not go near a house with a system.

i have an alarm system.. a big dog and a killer cat.. and im not joking about my cat.. he will watch the outdoors and howl (he is Siamese so he howls)

We have an alarm and it is a great deterrent. A thief just sees the siren on the wall and doesn't bother.

We used to have a large dog (German Shepherd) and he was a great deterrent as he would bark and snarl at any body trying to come into the house at night.

I wouldn't use a weapon of any sort as the burglar may have a better weapon or I would hurt the burglar and be arrested myself.

I'm surrounded by angels, so don't need any "home security". I do have a baseball bat that I found in my last house, but I just use it to bang on the ceiling when the non-paying guests (critters) get too rowdy up there.
