which do you need for sleep? Complete quiet or  

Me, I need complete and utter silence and stillness. Plus I like it to be totally dark, my children all seem to like to have the background noise i.e in my kids case their tvs on!

I need it to be completely quiet for me to sleep, I'm a light sleeper, and any little noise will wake me up, then its hard for me to go back to sleep. I went on a trip one time with my sister and my mom, and my sister had the clock radio playing all night, it was turned down, I think I even turned it down more, but I could still hear it, and I didn't sleep a wink, I felt miserable all the next day. I hate when theres noises at night, sometimes our neighbors dog barks all night and that drives me nuts..lol.

I usally need the tv to fall asleep to. I cant fall asleep to complete silence then my mind keeps woundering off but with the tv on I just concentrate on that but I usally watch something ive seen a thousand times so I dont need to look at it to know whats going on.

Howdy, I don't mind a bit of noise. Sometimes it helps me wind down some. I turn something funny on and just doze off most nights.

I have a fan running in my room all the time. If it is not on at night I have trouble falling asleep. It sometimes shuts off because it has a thermostat on it that turns if off when the room gets below a certain temperature. I normally get up and turn it back on.

I need something like white noise, not music or anything that will keep my mind engaged. I leave a fan running in my room all the time, all year long. If it's too quiet it just feels awkward.

i have the tv on and the music on and have a book in my hand while going to sleep.Some times i wake up in the middle of the night and switch off the tv and music, because i would have forgotten to switch them off- but i am careful now after i got lectured about wasting power.But i have to read a little and listen to music before i sleep :-)

Hi ersmommy! It has to be quiet and dark for me to fall asleep and to have a good sleep. I tried once to put music in the background and it wasn't loud, but it didn't work for me unfortunately. Thanks!

i need it to be completely quiet for me to be able to sleep. In fact, a lot of times i need to wear ear plugs when i sleep in order to block out the little noises that keep me awake. my husband on the other hand, needs some noise to help him sleep. he wears earphones and listens to the radio to fall asleep. he would love for their to be a TV in the bedroom to fall asleep to but i also need it completely dark to sleep and the flickering lights from the TV keep me awake.

I don't really have a preference...I can sleep jest about anywhere with the T.V. on, the radio, lights on. But if we are talking about the best sleep, everything off, pitch black, silence, with the window cracked to let in some fresh cold air, a cozy comforter and lots of fluffy pillows. Yep that's the best!!
