Chocolate lovers!! It's a hit in the UK - will it be one in the US??  

One of the commentors to that story said they found it at Whole Foods groceries here in the US. But, they're $8 per bar! Thanks, but no thanks!!

No, that doesn't sound that good. The caramel already has a salty flavor - a covering of sea salt, for me, would be overkill! And, I don't like dark chocolate. I barely like milk chocolate.

Well, I did use a bit of literary license there, but then I don't know what Selfridges is, either. Apparently, this chocolate bar IS sold over here in our Whole Foods grocery stores. I've been in their parking lots, but never in their stores. Too pricey for my budget, which explains why these babies are $8/bar here!! (Approximately 4 GBP). I absolutely LOVE good salty bacon, but I'm not as much of a fan of chocolate, which is why this combination piqued my interest. I thought it might make plain chocolate palatable, but who's to say. I'll never know because I won't even pay $2 for a chocolate bar, let alone $8!!!

I'm not a huge chocolate fan, but do like salt/sweet combos. But, I just found out they sell here in the US in the Whole Foods chain for $8 a pop. Yeah - thanks, but you can have it. I'll never know unless I dip my own strips of bacon in melted chocolate.

That is expensive. I would never pay that amount of money to try something, I would end up not liking it and wouldn't even be able to give it away. Oh well, no worry....we don't have that chain of stores here where I live.LOL

Definitely can't go wrong with a free sample, I agree! But, this has GOT to taste better than jalapeno ice cream, don't you think?

You're probably right there. But I'd also try that as a free sample. Can't be much worse than lavender flavoured cheese.

I like my cheese milky, thanks!! Or sharp as in cheddar. Flavored like flowers doesn't fit in there anywhere!!

It was horrible. So was the scotch flavoured cheese though.

Wow, really? Bacon made you sick? I love really good salty bacon. It's weird that people were talking about this just recently. These bars can be found in the Whole Foods groceries - but at $8/per, they'll never see the light of day in my house.

Yeah, I'm allergic to everything, and that includes all those additives in bacon, all the nitrates and stuff.

but at that price you aren't going to find me buying it either!

Holy moly, Elic! What DO you eat??? My mother's allergic to green beans and tea, but still can consume them if she's willing to deal with the hayfever-like reaction. I can't imagine not being able to eat something at all! I knew about the corn, though.

Oh, if I eat in rotation, most foods aren't too bad and sometimes I'll use the reaction of one (say loose bowels) to counter another (constipation.) I just live with the congestion that comes with eating dairy (cheese mostly.) My allergist said I was the first person he knew who used one reaction to counter another, but since I have so many different reactions, I can do it.

Interesting. If it works, do it! I respond to cheese, but not the way people are used to cheese working. Certain cheeses or cheesy foods will trigger a virtual lava flow with accompanying sweats, runny nose and pain. When it's over, I'm clean as a whistle within and relieved without! Mine is IBS.

I just get congestion. My mom became lactose intollerant after a bad case of food poisoning.

I'm of split mind on "do I or don't I" as well. And, I just happen upon these stories. Sometimes I'm looking for something else, sometimes they show up in a newsletter, once in a while I go looking just to see what's out there. Lately, most of them have come from my newsletters I get from our local news channel. If the story isn't well-told there, I'll go looking for better links.

I would definitely be sick to my stomach if I did that. Sweet stuff just doesn't sit well anymore, especially chocolate. But, it's really no worse than two cups of hot chocolate a day and I know people who do that. I can't do that either. But, I do like chocolate bars with raisins and nuts - I especially like them frozen. I can enjoy frozen chocolate.

I don't know where the store is they mentioned - apparently it's being sold here in the US in some organic grocery chain. I don't shop there anyway, so that won't be happening for me any time soon.

That would make it difficult, true. I think eating bacon right after eating chocolate might work for me.
