According to an AP report Caroline Kennedy has spoken to N.Y. Governor David Patterson about the possibility of being appointed to replace Senator Hillary Clinton in the U.S. Senate when the latter leaves to be Secretary of State. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5haD2uvobabPn3ZeMiXfTC3vMza6AD94SPV303 Here's an excerpt from the above article: Caroline Kennedy has spoken to New York Gov. David Paterson about the Senate seat that will come open when Hillary Rodham Clinton becomes secretary of state, according to a person familiar with the conversation. Kennedy reached out to the governor to discuss the Senate seat, according to the Democratic source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the conversation was private. The source would not disclose the details of the conversation. (End of excerpt) So, does anyone here have any opinions about this? I know there are Kennedy haters here no matter who the Kennedy is but I've always admired Caroline. I think she's always been like her mother - a very classy lady. Annie

I agree Annie, Let's see how many try to trash this lady. Oh, they will be finding something to try and tear her down with. Let's see what kind of stupid things they come up with.

I like the idea of Caroline becoming a senator. There is one fact about the Kennedys in politics that can't be denied no matter how much people dislike them. They always bring more to the office than they take away. I suspect Caroline will be no different.

You're right. And I really don't know of anyone who has ever actually said they don't like Caroline. I mean, what reason could they possibly have unless they simply dislike all Democrats or all Kennedy's? Annie

I think there are those out there who just hate the Kennedy name, mostly without reason.

I agree, she is a classy lady and would probably make a good senator. New Yorkers seem to really love Hilary and I think that they would have no trouble transferring that to Caroline while their former lady senator heads up the State Department. I don't know if Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg even has the ambition to later run for office after serving out Hilary's term but I must admit that when I heard this my first thought was: wouldn't it be amazing if the first female president turned out to be a JFK's little girl?

You know what, that thought has crossed my mind as well! Unlike either Hillary Clinton or Sarah Palin, Caroline isn't a polarizing person who is adored by her based and hated by lots of other people so she might just be the one to crash right on through that thickest of glass ceilings! Annie

I think the idea of Caroline running for a political office has been in the background since she and Ted Kennedy endorsed Obama. Perhaps she is the new Kennedy family politician in case anything happens to her Uncle Ted.

We're on the same wavelength here, Annie. I've always thought she's really a class act, very much like her mother and many others in the Kennedy family. We need a bit more class and a bit less bluster in Washington. I'm sure Caroline Kennedy would do a great job, as she has with everything she's done with her life.

I agree, I have no doubt she'll put the needs of the country and the people in it above her own. Annie

I think it would be a great idea. I know most conservatives do not like the thought of it but, they seem to have a great nack for politics well as long as they live through office.

Then, let's see, in 2016 it can be Caroline and Chelsea Clinton on the Democratic ticket. Or, no, now I got it - 2016 will be Biden/Kennedy, 2024 will be Kennedy/Clinton, 2032 Clinton/and one of the Obama girls...lol! I guess I have it all figured out! Annie

Still not sure what to make of it. She really has no political office history to judge by but there are several books that stand out to me she has worked on or written, specificly "In Our Defense: The Bill of Rights In Action" "The Right to Privacy", as well as editor for "A Patriot’s Handbook". She sounds to be almost libertarian in her ideology. I have to be honest, there isn't much about her political ideology so I don't know much about her.

I think it would be great if Caroline Kennedy was to become Senator of New York. I think her parents would be proud of her while looking down from up above in the Gates of Heaven with pride in their daughter.
