Do you or have you picked up a hitch hiker?  

Yes I did but just once and will never do it again, once he got into the car good thing I was not alone he was a escapee from a mental ward, we just drove him where he wanted to go and then left in a hurry, went and got ahold of the cops and let them know where we dropped him off, it was so scary.

I dont do it and I dont drive as much anymore either. I have cut way back on the time that I am on the roads. I dont ever see any really because I dont drive far enough or stay out there long enough. I think its just very dangerous and it dosent matter what gender, its just not safe....

I've picked up more hitchhikers than I can count.

I've never had a bad experience, but once, I was stopping to pick up someone at a broken down car and I had a bad feeling, so I didn't stop. Later, I learned on the news that there were people in the car and they had been murdered. It's likely I saw the guy who killed them. I called the police and tehy talked to me about what I saw.

I would like to but I don't like to be distracted when I drive and being stabbed in the back might be a real distraction...
Seriously,I just might one day but if someone offered me a ride I'd politely say no and hurry away

No, never! I am so overly cautious, that I don't even like walking to my car from my house. I would not pick up a stranger and sometimes even worry about acquaintances.

Never, well never anyone that I did not know. A few times I saw some people I know walking in bad weather and offered them rides but even the nicest looking person could be a killer. If someone really needs a ride, call a cab. If you are broke, there are places to go to help. I hate to sound cruel, but my life is worth a lot to me.

i tried to one time and she was with her boyfriend and when he saw i was black he did not want a ride so she did not ride and she was my friend.i don,t pick up hitch hikers at all it,s to dangerous to do that these days

Well, I responded with a long comment but something happened and it was lost.

So let me see if I can restate it.

It has been many years since I picked up a hitch-hiker. Last year I gave a lady a ride to work because it was raining "cats-n-dogs" and year before that I gave a man a ride because he was walking into town (which was about 10 miles away) because his car broke down. Come to find out he lived close to me.

It is sad the our society has changed so much that people are not safe to pick-up someone. Whether it be the fear for the hitcher or the fear of the driver being harmed.

Times have changed ... I guess the last time I can recall it being safe was about 23+ years ago.

Once I allowed a person as I was returning with my family from my cousin's place.It was a man with another one waiting fro the bus.As he waved I just stopped the car to know that one of them is in deep agony with stomach ache.I some how managed to accommodate them in my car to the nest town hospital which was only fifteen minutes away.Usually I am very careful about giving lift t the hitchhikers.But the pain on the face of that man made me stop.
