Today.com is not paying new bloggers  |

 Today.com has changed how it pays people, and new bloggers will not be paid for their posts during their first month. Blogs are reviewed every thirty days, and if you have posted regularly and your page views are going up enough, you may be promoted to V.I.P status, which means you will be paid $1.00 a day for one post of at least 100 words. For new bloggers, your only income will be at the usual page view rate: $2.00 per thousand. Payout is $50.00, so it may not be worth it for most people to blog just for page views.
I've been blogging with today.com for almost three months and I've seen a lot of spam blogs started up, and a lot that have barely the minimum words, with little or no useful information. This is probably why today.com has changed their pay rate--so that people who just want an easy dollar a day won't sign up. If you have a good topic that you are willing to develop, and if you are willing to work actively at building your readership, today.com is a nice place to blog. But if you're just after that quick dollar a day, forget it.
You should also know that today.com has restrictions on what you can post. No advertising of your own, and no referral links.

I wonder why they started to do something like this because I think it would not be nice. But I don't want to write something and not getting paid like what you said, that today.com is no longer paying for the new blogger.

2.  echomonster (2989) | 1 year ago | That's too bad -- I just recently joined the site and have yet to make my first blog post there. It's almost as if I had a premonition that told me not to get started. I'm not surprised they made this move given the recession, but it makes the site quite a bit less attractive to me. If I think of a topic that is likely to get lots of pageviews but probably wouldn't earn me much from ads/affiliate sales if I did it as an independent project, maybe I'll try in on Today. I really don't think I'll start the sports blog I was intending to start on Today now, though. Also the probability of their page getting viewed increases. I wonder why people always try to cheat whatever system provided to earn free money. Seems asking them to pay fees only will keep them away.
I don't see anything negative with Todaydotcom's move. Hope they really pay.
Well. How do they generate the money to pay the bloggers?

4.  thebeaddoodler (2771) | 1 year ago |  I think that's good news for those older bloggers with blogs with something worth reading. There are a lot of sites that start off paying good money for your input and end up with a lot of spam and plagiarism so they change the rules. I probably won't get paid the $1 per day because I don't blog every day, but that's OK. I'd rather see the pay rate go down than see Today.com go down in the ratings due to low quality blogs.

| unusualsuspect (2413) | 1 year ago | It's more than just about spam and useless posts. Today.com also wants high readership because that's what brings in the clicks on ads. My writing blog just got downgraded because it's not getting enough page views, even though those views doubled last month and are doubling again this month. I post regularly, work with Entrecard to increase my views, and am gaining some regular readers, but Today doesn't want to wait for blogs to build up over time. They said they did, but I guess the economics have changed that. I'm not going to write for just page-view pay, so I'm leaving the site. Even if my page views double a couple more times, it will take at least a year or two before I'll have enough for the $50.00 payout. They don't tell you what kind of page views you need to be reinstated for regular pay, but I suspect it's pretty high.
I'm not exactly an older blogger since my blog is only about two and a half months old, but I worked very hard and I know it's worth reading. On to the next project. | |

Most of their blogs are about writing. They're well-written and informative, but they don't bring in thousands of readers. That's the bottom line. | |

I have not joined today.com because I blog at another paid blogging site. I know I would have earned more money from Today if I had started blogging there, and I may yet start a new blog at Today.
