Can two people have the same IP address? |
I am asking this question because I do several of the paid to click and paid to read sites. One site I keep getting error messages that say "someone from this IP address already clicked on this add." and then the site Workfromhome HQ I got a message that my account is under review because of having two accounts from this IP address. Now the IP address they have down for me is not the IP address that is listed on my computer. Does anyone know what is going on? Does anyone know how I can fix this problem I will tell you I only have one account for these sites and do not want to be kicked off for something that is not by fault. I will tell you my computer is new I got it for Christmas so I have only been using it since then. Any ideas? Any help? Thanks

2. riyasam (10696) | 10 months ago | i donot think two people can get the sane IP address, legitemately but hackers are known to do such stuff.sometimes,i also get the same messege, there is an error in the system as two people are using the same IP address.

teapotmommommerced (5724) | 10 months ago | So how do you fix it or how do you defend yourself if you kicked off of a site? I have a site that I am making about 5 dollars a week and like the little extra money I get and do not want to get kicked out because of an error message.
| |
riyasam (10696) | 10 months ago | i donot know how to fix it??when such an error occurs,i simply close down the site or take the help of some computer engineers, who fixes it for me.

teapotmommommerced (5724) | 10 months ago | I have been told your IP address can change and so it is possible for someone else to have the same address as you do. I did not know that.

3. leonelaphotography (922) | 10 months ago | A lot of the PTC/PTR websites require that you wait 24 hours from the time that you last clicked on it. The reason I know this is because I have encountered the same problem. I did some researching and have found that if I skip a day the error doesn't appear.
Go through your sites every other day. This should solve the problem.

| Hoshiboshi (31) | 10 months ago | This sounds like the most likely problem. Make sure you know how often this site allows you to click the same ad, and then give a little extra time. Also make sure you don't accidentally load the ads twice (by hitting reload, clicking too many times, or whatever).
| |
leonelaphotography (922) | 10 months ago | Exactly! So try this first and let us know if you have any further problems.
| |
teapotmommommerced (5724) | 10 months ago | I know it is not that because I go to these sites once a day around the same time of night. I did find out we do change IP addresses and there fore if the IP address' number pool is limited then here is a chance that someone with your old address can click on the pages before you.
| |
leonelaphotography (922) | 10 months ago | Really? Oh well, if you're talking about Internet connections that constantly change their IP address would then make your statement true. I forgot to think about the possibility that after you've been on one someone else would use it. We do need to realize though unless it is hidden an IP address will disclose the location of that IP. This would then negate your point of view. If the IP discloses the address of it's location then it can't say that both parties are on the site at the same time from the same place. That would only be possible if someone were hijacking the Internet connection and using a proxy wouldn't it?

teapotmommommerced (5724) | 10 months ago | I think you are right, my son says that my internet browser does change the IP address. I thought that the IP address stays with the computer.
| |
leonelaphotography (922) | 10 months ago | The IP address only stays with the computer under certain circumstances. I'm not sure how those work. Even a person on dial-up can get a different IP every time they connect.

teapotmommommerced (5724) | 10 months ago | thanks for your information that is what I am learning. I did not know that before. I was under the impression that once you got an IP address it stuck like your physical address unless you moved or got a new computer.

leonelaphotography (922) | 10 months ago | What you can do is go to your favorite bookstore (Borders, Barnes & Noble) and go to the Internet/Computer section and look for books in the Dummies series. Like Computers for Dummies or maybe Networking for Dummies. These are great books with lots of information and the author may be Andy Rathbone. If you have a little difficulty just ask an employee what you are looking for in the Dummies series.
That's how I learned a lot of the information I know. The Dummies books including but not limited to Dummies for Windows 98/XP/Vista, Dummies for Networking, Dummies for DOS (if still available) and a whole lot more. You'll be surprised at how much you can learn from these books.
Also you can go to their website and pick up a few e-newsletters to sign up for to your email. They are packed with lots of information and tips.
www.dummies.com and it has a link to buy the books from them directly if you so choose.

5. egdcltd (1019) | 10 months ago | two people can have the same IP address, but not at the same time. Unless you have a static IP with your ISP (which usually costs extra) you will be assigned a different one every time you re-connect to the internet. So, an IP address someone used to go online, then logged off, will become available for you to use. There will usually be very little variation in the addresses, as they will all show you from coming from the same area, but they can and do change.

| henryfekok (45) | 10 months ago | I thing this is a good answer for you. When I downloading from a host, I got message that my IP address is currently downloading a file. This happen when I was connect from an internet cafe. The host just allowed one downloading for one IP address. So, I can tell you that two peoples can have the same IP address.

| darth_eletius (81) | 10 months ago | Nice. That was almost word-for-word waht I was going to say. I will add though that you don't have to get off the internet to get a new IP; most ISPs will reassign addresses every 24-48 hours no matter what.

6. shambhujit (910) | 10 months ago | Two or more people cannot have the same IP addresses on the same network. In such cases the persons having identical IP address may not be able to shut their computers down [In case of LAN] if they both come online together. While in case of the Internet they might not be able to log on to the network even.
In your case: 1) You might have connected through a proxy that is used by others too. 2) Your computer is being shared and someone else clicked on the AD before you.
| |
| |
| darth_eletius (81) | 10 months ago | Also, some ISPs assign private internal addresses to all of their customers, then they share a block with the same public IP using NAT, just like a router at your house, only you are connected to one that hundreds of people are connected to.

9. desertdarlene (5842) | 10 months ago | As far as I know only one line or household using the same internet connection can have the same IP address. No one outside of your household should have it. It's basically the address of the computer. So, unless someone else in your house who is using your computer is also doing those same sites, it shouldn't be a problem.

| 10. AllenTaylor (39) | 10 months ago | Are you the only person in your family with an account at that site? If not then it's possible that someone else in the family logged on and clicked on the ad before you. Otherwise, you're either on a network or someone else in your neighborhood is also registered at the site. A third possibility is that you've been hacked.
You should contact the company and explain your side of the story. It may not work but if you give them enough information then it could spark another avenue of investigation for them and save your account.

teapotmommommerced (5724) | 10 months ago | Yes I am the only person with an account. I am the only one in the house who uses my computer. My hubby works two days and does not use my computer. He does not even know how to search the net so I do not think it was him. We have not had any guests who could have gotten into my bookmarks. I think it was an error on their end.
