Can two people have the same IP address? |
|
I am asking this question because I do several of the paid to click and paid to read sites. One site I keep getting error messages that say "someone from this IP address already clicked on this add." and then the site Workfromhome HQ I got a message that my account is under review because of having two accounts from this IP address. Now the IP address they have down for me is not the IP address that is listed on my computer. Does anyone know what is going on? Does anyone know how I can fix this problem I will tell you I only have one account for these sites and do not want to be kicked off for something that is not by fault. I will tell you my computer is new I got it for Christmas so I have only been using it since then. Any ideas? Any help? Thanks

22. DCMerkle (600) | 12 months ago | I had a site where that happened to me. I was the only one that did the PTC sites. My family thought it was a waste of time, so I knew no one had opened an account with that site. I was making good money, well, enough to make me happy. I was getting an average of 2-3 checks from them a month. I was an avid clicker, what can I say. I also did the contests and would win money from that.
I got an email that told me that my account had been suspended because of a second account issue. I went round and round with them on it and then I was banned. I think and I hate to say this, but I think that because I was such an avid clicker and being paid more times a month, they either thought that they wanted someone else have a chance or that they just didn't want to pay me anymore. I'd check out the site Gpt to see if there has been any other complaints. DCMerkle

The original idea was that every network device (not person) would have a unique IP address. The problem was that there weren't enough IP addresses to go around.
One solution was to keep unique IP addresses inside groups, but to allow different groups to re-use the same IP addresses. You and I might both be 192.168.1.101 within in our own private home network, for example. When your computer accesses the outside internet, your ISP does a quick switch, and gives you a unique address such as 66.29.134.234. Your ISP can share that address with many of its customers. My ISP does the same thing, but with some different address.

26. anetteh (1451) | 12 months ago | Well, it is possible to have the same IP adress. That is if you put a router in your home to be able to axxess the same broadband. I have one router, so my son also can have his own computer in his room. And we share the same IP adress. There is also possible for someone els using your internetconnection depending on wich one you use. You might look that up.
There are so many young once trying to hack them selfs in to other in order to be able getting internet connection on someone elses expense.
Hope You found out what is wrong. Happy mylotting.

| 29. iLike2Rock (43) | 12 months ago | Yes, 2 people can have the same IP address, but not at the same time.
Dialup internet users are assigned an IP address everytime they login.
Because an ISP only has so many IP addresses, when you log out, the next caller may get the IP address you had.
Even if you are on cable or dsl you can wind up with a different IP address every 24 hours.
What is happening with these sites is this, when you login to their site, they are placing a cookie on your computer. That cookie more than likely has your IP address from the previous time you logged in, or, they have a database that records your IP everytime you login and it goes to either the cookie or the database looking for the same IP.
I would delete my cookies and try logging in and see if that doesn;t clear up the problem, if It doesn't, contact that site and let them know you are on dialup, or that you are not on a dedicated IP.

| 30. cyrus_p (74) | 12 months ago | 1st of all, people dont have IP adresses, devices have them:) each & every device that connects to the internet has its own IP address which is a unique IP address. it cannot be the same until there are people in an office who are connected to the internet via 1 server or LAN. Im not an SME at this one but this is what i believe.

teapotmommommerced (5724) | 12 months ago | cyrus you are absolutely correct. I do not have the address. It is just that when we say " what is your address I think of it as mine." Instead of my house address instead of MINE. Thanks for your information I am learning that a no computer can have the same IP address at the same time.
