Hard boiled egg yolks

My kids love hard boiled eggs, but they will not eat the yolk of the eggs. I made some hard boiled eggs for them a little bit ago, but I don't know what to do with the hard boiled egg yolks they will not eat. It seems a waste to throw them out, but I am not going to sit here and eat the yolks of their eggs by themselves. Got any ideas?

I know what you mean - I was the same when I was a kid!My grandmother was not aloud to eat the yolk because high colesterol, so I was the "designated" eater of yolks. Today, I can barely look at them, makes me feel like having a Gravol... But, I can mix them with chopped liver, onion, salt and pepper and have a nice salad. Or mix them with avocado and onion, another salad. Or tuna and mayo, makes it delicious. Hope it helps a little bit, and you'll find something to do with them, otherwise it's a waste...Still, you can not eat them all... Good luck!

The tuna salad thing could work. I like eggs in my tuna salad. I guess a little extra yolk would not hurts.

You can use the yolk in tuna, macaroni, or potato salad. When I was a kid, I did not like the yolk either. Whenever we had Easter eggs, I would chop my whole egg up real fine, so that I mixed the yolk up with the white part, I would add salt and pepper and eat it that way. I do not eat eggs that much now, and never boiled, I proabably eat about six eggs a year.

Nope. Sorry. I wouldn't even eat that much of the eggs if they are hard boiled.

I would personally mix it with some mayonaise and create an egg salad (only minus the whites) and spread it on bread. I love egg salad. But I also love the yolks, almost more than the whites. You could also just mash them up and add them to just about any dish you're making for dinner. Some folks have said they add egg to stuffing, I'd add some to rice.

make egg salad out of them. my grandmother use to make us egg salad sandwiches & they were good. she would add mayo & crisp bacon to them, salt & pepper of course. makes a good sandwich, the kids might even eat tehm that way.

Deviled eggs and egg salad for sandwiches are both excellent suggestions. Maybe they find the yolks too dry. If you do not boil them too hard the yolks taste better, although a lot of people say it does not make a difference. Kids are sensitive to sulphur compounds and if you are overcooking so they have a brown/green ring around the yolks you are cooking too long. I prefer to make them with a still soft yolk. The cholesterol in egg yolks concern was overblown when first came out a while back. It was found that an egg or two a day did not raise or lower cholesterol readings. Most of the cholesterol you have is made by the liver. So unless you are watching your cholesterol because it is too high, you can safely have modest use of eggs. Studies also found eating eggs helped people on diets, I guess because of the protein and eggs fill you up.

I don't eat the yolk either when I eat hard boiled eggs. The only time I use it is when I am making egg salad or deviled eggs. I usually throw them out. The yolk is where the bulk of the fat and cholesterol in an egg are found, so I don't feel bad about wasting. I think of it like trimming the fat off my meat.

Okay first thing first it is good that your children do not like the yolk. The whites of the eggs are where they get their protein but the yolk is nothing but fat. I would not for nor would I add them to anything. Healthy is a good thing!

You can use it in cooking vegetables. Just for a change in taste. You can try it. We use the yolk of eggs for in making soups but it is not the boiled one but the original one!

I think some people put them in salads! I like to add boiled eggs to potato salad. Someone said something that has me wondering how healthy the egg yolks really are. If they're not that healthy, I am going to start leaving them out of my potato salad! I need to be as healthy as I can be!
