Those spaghetti sauce stains.

I got out one of my good tablecloths, and a few days later decided to make lasagna. After we finished it, and took off the place mats, I noticed two small spaghetti sauce stains and decided to put it in the wash. However in spite of the bleach, it still remained. Again, I decided I had better soak it, so I put some bleach on the stains, let it soak, it faded a bit, but then it was still there. So I decided to put some Shout stain remover on it since it already was quite successful in removing the stain from my other table cloth. Yes we had lasagna a couple of days later.
So I am hoping that the stain is gone. So what do you use to remove tomato sauce or spaghetti sauce stains?

I haven't used Shout in a while but I do remember that it worked quite well. I know that half of the stains come out better with Shout if applied right away. That is the idea as soon as something as staining as that spaghetti sauce land on it. Those stains can be so irritating to deal with!

Yes that works. I should have put it in the tablecloth first, I put it on my good one and after a couple of rubs it was gone, the stain, that is.

I don't know that I would have used bleach because I think Bleach tends to weaken the fibers. I recently got a product for removing stains and so far it has done a pretty good job, though I haven't tried tomato stains and it is called Zout.

I dunno... I'm not good at that type of thing either, getting stains out. I probably would have tried the same things you did to get it out. Have you had any luck? We're probably going to have spaghetti tonight but luckily I don't have a tablecloth on our table! :)

I put some Resolve on it, which is the same as Shout only made by a different company and it worked.

I also heard of a lot of things, but it seems that they have to be accompanied by a lot of elbow grease.

I guess there are just some things that are unavoidable! No matter what we do in life if there is going to be something stained we have to be on top of things on how to get it out especially if you are like me and can't stand those stains that happen.
I think that there have been a lot of good ideas out there. I have also heard of club soda being of some use but it might depend on what the stain is.

I buy Shout it is my favorite stain remover I have to keep it in stock because we are a messy lot..lol
I also like Oxiclean and bye it and it works fabulously on stains as well. I recommend that you try it although it is more costly then shout it also might do more. I know it cleans basically everything.

I love it. I look at it this way..if you buy the cheaper stuff and it doens't work you lose money because of ruined clothing..but if the good stuff gets it out then your saving money because your saving the clothes..I used oxiclean to clean my home interior flowers and they came out looking bright and good as new...it done a fabulous job..

I have heard of Oxiclean. It seems to be a quite reputable type of cleaner for stains. And yes, I can imagine certain stain removal agents and the like can be expensive but usually wind up being more reliable in the end. Those expensive products might be able to go a long way especially if you deal with a lot of stains.

This sort of thing always happens to me when I wear white, these are the sorts of stains that always happen, we have a product here called nappysan which is really meant for babies nappy's or diapurs in some countries, I find that rather successful, it is hard to remove these sorts of stains I know...

Hydrogen peroxide is good on juice and fruit based stains, and it is also good on blood stains. I like to try that on stubborn stains.

We have bleach, the ones for colors and the ones for white. The tableclothes are beige and a white one with blue lines. But the ones that work are the one that is bleach and if you use hot water, it sets the stain.

My goodness thats a strong stain isn't it...I have just always sprayed it with something like shout & it came out..To much bleach could weaken the cloth, so be careful...i don't know..I have used resolve fabric cleaner before & it works well, perhaps you could try it...Maybe someone has the answer to your question....That would be very annoying...

I have to say that I use a micture of bread soda and vinegar for tough stains like spaghetti sauce or even grass stains. When I mix it I put the item straight over the top so that when it fizzes up it helps left the stain right out.

oh..yes i used to soak stains clothes to our bath soap and put it to boiling water and leave it over night..that what i did recently.have a nice day

That sounds like a logical thing to do It sure sounds easy enough. Between the bath soap and boiling water that could work pretty well especially if left to sit over night. That sauce is definitely hard to get out and it is worse when it is set it. I like to get at it right away!

If you're washing whites use the hottest water you can. Add 1/4 cup of automatic dishwasher powder and 1/4 cup of Clorox II with your detergent. This takes out anything!! It makes your white stuff brilliant as well as taking out any stain that's there. This even works for old stains!

Personally these can be some of the hardest stains to ever get out of something. I think if it was me, I would try Shout or something like that first before washing something and hope it works. Because there are many times I will end up getting a stain on something and if it does not come out I do get a little frustrated and a lot of times give up, and just remember next time to be a little more careful as well.

It was my husband who did the staining. He is a bit clumsy because of his arthritis. I think next time to put something larger under the dish.

Well actually it did not come out until I put some Shout on it. The bleach, it was the Color fast bleach, faded it a little, but it needed several washings.

I seldom have those types of stains but when I do, I use an oxygen-type bleach like Oxyclean to soak it and then toss in wash.

You have to be careful, it will work on white fabric, but it would fade colors. I put Oxyclean on my t-shirt after we had lobsters, and I had my black underswear in the same wash, and it came out gray.

We use an oxygen based product to get all the stains out of our clothing/washable homewares. It works by activating oxygen bubbles when mixed with water, which gives an extra boost to the stain removing agents. Mostly it works, if I get to the stains in time.
I also use the same product in every wash as a boost. It is antibacterial and also contains fabric restoring agents too, which is great for kids clothing.

hello suspenseful
i know what you mean about a tough stain like spaghetti sauce or mustard or something that will stain clothing badly. and what that i usually do is when i have a tough stain like that, i will pour a small amount of liquid Tide on the stain and let it soak sometimes overnight. then the next day, i will throw the stained item back into the washer, and that usually handles the stain. beet juice is hard to get out of clothing as well. good luck to you in getting the spaghetti stains off of your tablecloth.
take care and have a beautiful evening.

Try vinegar. Mix that with some water and then put it on the stain, let it sit for a few minutes and rub/scrub on the stain and it should start to disappear...
Another one that a friend of mine told me about.. never had tried this... but she uses brake cleaner on tomato based stains. She said it works great, just spray a little bit of the brake cleaner on a cloth, rub on the stain and she said in minutes the stain is just a memory. Once again, I've never tried this, but she swears by it... Who knows!
Best of luck!

I did try Shout and it worked, but I would not mind trying a few other suggestions. I do buy a lot of vinegar. I do use it for cleaning glass, but I would get the stain has to be fresh.
