Come on Democrats, try raising your standards a bit! |
| |
| Look, I know most politicians are crooks, but you guys need to open your eyes and stop defending these politicians who are blatantly committing crimes and lying to you. Here are a few examples I don't think I've seen a single democrat on mylot criticize Tim Geithner, nor have they criticized Obama for selecting a tax cheat to collect our taxes. I have not seen democrats criticize Tom Daschle for owing more taxes than most of us earn over a 3 year period. In fact, I've seen many say how sad it is that he withdrew from consideration. Not one democrat has even mentioned Bill Richardson. Now we have Roland Burris committing perjury regarding the Blagojevich pay-to-play scandal and again, not one democrat here on mylot seems to mind. Finally we have democrats in the House and Senate passing a $1,000,000,000,000.00 bill that is 1,071 pages long without even bothering to read it and yet I have been called "unpatriotic" for not supporting it by a democrat right here on mylot. I've seen democrats here on mylot even criticizing Republicans for not blindly supporting a bill they haven't read. Seriously guys, take a look at yourselves. If republicans had done all this would you still be defending it? All I ever get is excuses of what Bush did or didn't do. Do you really want George W. Bush to be your measuring stick? Is he the standard you want to hold Obama to? | | | | | |

| | I am tired of everytime I bring up an issue with a democrat or Obama that their first response is Bush. Like somehow I liked him. The assume that all republicans like bush or that bush represents what republicans want or are. IF that would have been the case his approval ratings would have been a lot higher. Bush should not be the measuring stick or anything when it comes to being president. As for Daschle, I actually saw posts here on mylot saying how he should not have stepped down, that it should not have had a bearing on his job...yada yada. They defended him. Personally I want ALL the crooks out of our elected offices. Reguardless of party. I am tired of it. You are not unpatriotic. It is the new weapon word. First if you criticized Obama you were a racist, now if you do not support his agenda you are unpatriotic. Both words are used to try and intimidate you and silence you. Don't let them win. Stand up and say what you believe. That is your right as an American citizen. | | | | | | |

| | Some of the Obamabots are suggesting things like "how's it feel now that the shoes on the other foot" as if I ever accused anyone of being a traitor because they questioned government. And I never personally saw any conservative tell a liberal that they were a traitor for questioning Bush but the simple fact is that most liberal ideology IS treasonous for its utter lack of reality based thinking. It has nothing to do with their hatred of Bush but their hatred of the things that made this country great in the first place. | | | |

| | Well that's because if ONE republican does it, suddenly we are all to blame. If democrats were held to the same standard we'd be able to blame all of them for Blagojevich, Gary Condit, Roland Burris, Bill Richardson, etc. Aside from Blagojevich they've given all these guys a free pass. I personally, have NEVER seen a republican call someone treasonous for not liking or agreeing with Bush yet somehow, I get treated as though I'm responsible for the claim that some republicans have said it. | | | |

| | If you support Obama and this spendulus package, you are unpatriotic. Yep, thats right, I said it, I went there. You pledge allegiance to the flag and country, not the self proclaimed messiah! He is not living up to his oath to protect and preserve our Constitution. NO WHERE does it state that the federal government will provide this crap. Except for the infrastructure. That very small percentage of the bill that is the token spending. His blatant disregard for the Constitution before even being elected, refusing to prove his eligibility, is a strong indicator to me what kind of man he is. For crying out loud, he was a Constitutional lawyer, you can't tell me he truly believes that what he is doing is in accordance with the thoughts and intentions of our forefathers. Hope and change - we have run well for over 200 years with this document. The only times we have had severe troubles are when government gets too involved. | | | | | | |

| | They won't, either. It's really really pathetic Taskr. They're too busy gloming on to every piece of worthless tabloid gossip about Sarah Palin to have an opinion about the people they elected to run this country. And then they wonder why I despise Democrats with every fiber of my being. Their ignorance, hypocrisy and double standards offend me in ways I cannot fully express. | | | | | | |

| | I would respond but as you never comment on any of your discussions therefore they do not become discussion just statements. In other words if you can't take the time to comment then my time is too precious to waste on your discussions. BTW I did check your last 7 discussions. | | | | | | |

| | If you checked my last 7 discussion then you see that there are only 2 that I did not yet comment on and 1 that is only 13 hours old. Pardon me if I don't comment enough to be up to your standards. You could have easily sent a message to me saying this, but instead you chose to waste space here by posting an off topic response. | | | |

| | That's nice to hear. Geithner himself deserves plenty of criticism, but I can't understand how Obama is treated like Teflon after appointing Geithner and Daschle. On another thread a person was actually blaming BUSH for Geithner. I pressed her on it, explained that he was actually CAUGHT not paying taxes while Bush was president, and reminded her that Obama appointed him, yet she never changed her opinion. I'm glad you're letting your state reps know about your disappointment. Some of them are claiming that their constituents support this bill while the polls are showing otherwise. I have yet to see a poll showing the majority of voters supporting it. The big thing regarding standards is that I see democrats getting a free pass on things that republicans get reamed over. I heard one analyst say it's because Republicans advertise themselves as the moral party with family values etc. What that tells me is that Republicans set the bar higher. I WANT the bar set higher. I WANT to hold my politicians to a higher standard. I don't see why democrats don't want the same thing from their own party. | | | |

| | Taskr, Excelent points. If the public knew what some of that bill was going for they might be a bit upset. I just got the TARP testimonies and some other items of importance as to where some of this money that we just lost and are going to have to pay for in taxes is actually going. If you are in Citi bank. I might suggest to you to get out. Just a friendly note to you and those on MyLot. Ainge | | | | | | |

| | Hello Taskr, I had sincerely hoped that some of the more vocal Democrats from our little community would have responded to this discussion. Although, in all fairness it probably would have been not so unlike deliberately stepping into a bear trap -- ouch! I do wish to correct one of your points, if I may. At least two Democrats have commented on Bill Richardson. Though both inappropriately demonstrated sympathy for him. He is the governor of my state, and he is a painful reminder of all that is wrong in the Land of Enchantment! Below is a link to a scathing update about "king bill", our disgraced governor. If facing the hard, cold reality about the current state of the DNC has been difficult for the DNC rank & file, then this article promises to make that all the more difficult. When we start excusing illegalities in the name of party loyalty, then there is something terribly wrong!!! To be sure, I don't know anyone who excused Bush having pushed the Prescription Drug benefit, or his resistance to securing our borders, or his apparent allergy to the Veto Pen in response to dangerout, out-of-control spending. When someone screws up, we need to hold them accountable -- regardless of their personal politics. AND, when they break they law -- we must apply the same legal standard that the average citizen is held to -- no exceptions! | | | | | | |

| | Huh, another Chicago connection. What a shocking coincidence! ...the allegations are that a Chicago investment firm was awarded a contract to handle the state’s pension fund because it contributed $15,000 to Richardson’s PAC. The fund lost $90 million under the company’s watch. You know what's most appalling? Democrats have set their own bar so low and they are using Bush as an excuse to do it!! All I hear are excuses while the mountain of corruption just gets bigger and bigger. | | | |

| | What I don't understand is how Blagojevich became such a pariah while Richardson has been almost completely ignored by the media. Both were high profile politicians with close ties to Obama and both were accused of pay-to-play scandals. | | | |

| | Hello Taskr, My theory is that Blogo has enough dirt on Obama and members of his team that he could 'domino' their downfall. So, the best way to remove Blogo's power over them is to totally discredit him. Heck, Illinois state politicians have even suggested that Blogo is mentally ill. Geesh, that's one of the oldest defense tricks in the books -- discredit the witness on grounds that he or she is a liar, and if that doesn't work, go for the mental instability disqualification. Politicians (of all shapes & sizes) have a long history of circling the wagons for their own. The DNC doesn't want to destroy their own UNLESS they threaten their former 'friends'. That is exactly what Blogo did when he went on that wild P.R. campaign declaring that he should have the right to subpoena his witness list (which included lots of Team Obama), even though Blogo knows that an impeachment proceeding is not a trial. That publicity campaign to garner support for his goal of subpoenaing Team Obama was a blatant threat against the Obama administration. That was the signal for the DNC to take the gloves off. Richardson doesn't have 'the goods' on Team Obama. Actually, Richardson is so narcissistic that he's pretty clueless about that which does not potentially benefit himself. As I see it, it's the difference between big fish and little fish. | | | |

| | I don't think Democrats can rightly say that anyone from their party deserves lashings. I mean, the evidence is all over the net, all over the news, all out in the streets - hardcore libs are abrasive, disruptive finger pointers who refuse to take on an ounce of responsibility. It's not that their standard is Bush - it's simply that Bush is the end-all argument for the unenlightened. Due to a horrific war that NO ONE wants and a huge ball drop by FEMA, wing-tips have the necessary ammo they need to blame their way to oblivion's bliss. P: "Bush created millions of jobs after inheriting a recession." CP: "Katrinaaaaa!" P: "Bush has kept us safe from future terrorist attacks in America." CP: "Innocent liveeeeeeees! Make believe terroristsssss! Bush wants oillllll!" P: "Not only did Bush's politics provide serious economic growth for nearly 6 years, but he was also vocal in the need for regulatory measures on Fannie and the kids." CP: "That's not what Obama said!" Hey, I understand party loyalty. I value myself a conservative and I can say right now that I know some nutjob neo-cons who need to go away! But when it comes to the hardcore blue man crew, the stark contrast is endlessly ironic. You go from believing nothing one president says to beleiving everything the next one does? How does that work lol Completely ignore the truth on real news shows and watch the softball report on MSNBC that refuses to question Wright, Ayers, documentation, responsibility, the energy crisis, etc. In the end, I think dems who won't admit their party is dirty are simply embarrassed to do so. How does it look blaming everything on Bush and then saying, "oh, wait a minute ... maybe my guys are messing up too." I have to end with a LMAO @ bashing Bill O'reilly and Sean Hannity but worshiping Bill Maher and Jon Stewart. | | | | | | |
