How do you get them to put/keep them on?

It is winter. It is cold outside. Currently, the temperature is dropping here. WInd chills making it even colder! And my daughter comes off the bus yet again hat and gloves in the back pack. Her coat also unzipped. She has asthma, and just got over a 3 month long cough. I have tried explaining keeping warm keeps her well. How do you get your kids to put on their winter gear?

I have a cough. About a month now. Tell your daughter to stop coughing on the keyboard while you are posting stories to mylot. :) (I'm kidding, of course.)

I wish I knew. My son would get off the school bus in freezing temperatures with no coat on. It would be stuffed in his bookbag. He says it is hot on the school bus.

My kids do the same thing, I just tell them that if I ever catch them not wearing their hat and not having their coat zipped, then I won't allow them out of the house the rest of the winter.

I feel your pain, having two kids of my own. To be honest, the older they get the more they feel the peer pressure that it just is not cool to wear all that warm clothing. You can send them out bundled up, they come home with half of the clothes. There is no good reason why. You just have to accept the fact that you are a good mother, you give them all of the clothes they need when they leave the house, you cannot follow them around all day and make sure they wear them. Also, as they get older you will have to "pick" your battles, because there will be more and more of them.

I laugh only because my son took the dog out this morning with no shoes on, so i feel your pain. My mom used to attach my gloves with string so they were attached to my coat, and therefore it was just as easy to wear them as let them hang there. I do know that if she is putting them in her backpack at school, it is more work to dig them out, where, if she puts them in her pockets they will be right there when she puts her coat on.

When you find out, let me know!!! My son has had about four different hats this year, three of them in the first month of cold weather alone!!! He leaves them in his cubby, in the lunchroom, on the bus. This boy keeps a cough from the time it gets cold until the weather breaks!!! I tell him over and over to keep up with his hat, to put his hat in his sleeve when he takes it off, to put it on before he gets on the bus, nothing works! I don't know what to do with that boy *walks off muttering*
