My first seedling has sprouted! |
| |
| The picture is very blurry (it's so small I has to get really close with the camera) but you can see my first seedling in the picture attached. It is a chilli plant of an Italian variety called "Satan's Kiss", which despite the name apparently produces chilli's that are only medium hot. I was relieved actually I was worried I had planted the seeds too deep and they were just rotting, but if this ones sprouted hopefully the others will follow over the next couple of days. Today I also sowed some tomato seeds as we have some grow bags to fill, I've sown 2 varieties "Tumbling Tom" a dwarf variety you can grow in containers or hanging baskets or even indoors, and an outdoor one called "Gardeners Delight." hopefully they will start sprouting after about 7 days. I know it's only early but I'm going to keep the plants indoors until the weather clears up. What have you sown so far? or what are you planning to sow soon? | | My first seedling! | | | | |

| | It is pleasing to see a plant grow from a seed you planted, it makes me happy anyway. | | | |

| | I've sowed my lettuces, broccoli, nappa cabbage and they are getting bigger now. I've ordered different types of vegetable seeds and I can't wait for them to arrive. | | | | | | |

| | I grow the chilli's indoors or did last year, though I have got some outdoor crops so lets hope the summer isn't a complete wash out again. | | | |

| | It's still too early here to think about planting anything. If I had a window that got a lot of sun I would start a few things at the end of March, but I don't get enough sun, and so any seedlings would get rather pale and spindly before the ground was warm enough to plant outdoors. | | | | | | |

| | I'm worried I may have started early on the outdoor crops, but it does get warm here earlier than the rest of the country normally. I just hope it doesn't rain as much as it did last year and wash everything away. | | | |

| | They reckon it's because we don't let kids eat dirt any more that all these allergies have started. I remember when I was at primary school (only 20 years ago) the box for the inhalers only had about 3 in it, when I worked in a nursery about 4 years ago the box of inhalers had at least 10 in, nearly every kid is asthmatic these days. | | | |

| | My tulips are starting to come up but it's still really cold here to plant anything outside. I'm going to do tomatoes and maybe experiment with a few other veggies. I want to do strawberries this year too. Do you think I should go ahead and start some inside now? | | | | | | |

| | It is a bit early really it depends how warm it is where you are now, I'm going to keep the chilli's inside and some of the tomatoes. if you have somewhere indoors you could keep the plants until it's warm enough like a conservatory or even a good windowsill it should be OK though. | | | |

| | Parsley, dandelions, and chives I've started in pots. My dandelions have started getting bigger as the sun's gotten stronger here in northern ohio. Soon 'nuff my Mom and I will be starting tomatos and peppers and various assortment of flowers. (Wolfberries, too) And as soon as we finish ordering our last batch of plants/seeds...we'll be working outside. March marks the begin of the real work! Hoo boy, here comes me worrying over little sprouts. I really prefer things like dandelions, 'cause they're hard to kill and give me less reason to be a worrywort xD Hopefully, once it gets warmer the dandies will get BIG and then start to flower so that they can have babies (set to seed) so that I can let loose the fluffy seeds on my yard and start some more in more pots, haha. Early's good! The more work that can be done nore, indoors, the easier time you'll have for the rest of year ^_^ | | | | | | |

| | I bought my seeds on ebay and have had some trouble getting them to sprout I'm just hoping the others work, I'm trying not to bury them so deep this time so they don't have to fight so hard to get through the soil. | | | |
