Mardi Gras a day late.

Our youth minister at church is planning a shrimp boil before church tonight for the teens. I'm looking forward to it. It usually includes shrimp, corn-on-the-cob, new potatoes and sausage. And he adds spices, sometimes a little hot for me. He used to live in New Orleans and enjoys a Mardi Gras celebration even if we are having it on Ash Wednesday.

Kristen (our middle daughter) is in school at the Arkansas Career Technical Institute in Hot Springs. She is in their nurses assitance program. They celebrated Mardi Gras. One of their instructors brought them all beads. Kristen was laughing when she came home because her neck had turned pink from the beads!

Before we have always gotten beads for the girls at Mardi Gras time. This was the first time we'd ever had them flake off like they did. I told her that at least they were pink and not black so that everyone would think she hadn't bathed in weeks! LOL

My kids have had some of those Mardi Gras beads before and we never had the experience of them fading on their skin.

That sounds like fun. He sounds like a fun minister. The food sounds really good. It seems like a nice thing to cook up in large quantities to feed a good amount of people and the sausage probably adds a lot of flavor to everything that is cooked with it. Sounds great.

So Sunday he's saying he's doing the shrimp boil and I was really looking forward to it. Then I got there on Wednesday night and we had chilli. What disappointment! I didn't get to ask what happened to his plans. The chilli was good, but it wasn't shrimp.

That's a shame. At least the chili was good.
