Have you checked medical equipment stores? They usually have them. I have such a store here and they have several models from $400 on up. Look under medical supplies in the yellow pages and I'm sure you'll be able to find one. If not, they will be able to steer you in the right direction!

Only thing I can suggest is maybe call some local medical supply stores or see if the hospital in your area might can tell you where to check around. Also check your local classified ads.

I wish I could help you AGB but i have no idea where you would fins something like that in the USA! I have a chair like that it is a riser recliner - it lays back as well as sitting up and then lifts me so all I have to do is step off the chair. I didn't buy mine though - it is provided by the NHS and has made a huge difference to my life! I wish there was somewhere like the medical loan equipment service where you live it would make it much easier for you! Good luck finding one! Hugsxxxxx

Obviously I can't give you the answer you are looking for because I am in Canada. The reason for my reply is this: I bought a lift chair (Leather) and I did buy it locally but I have learnt two very good pieces of advice and I'd like to pass it on. Try to get one that has a pouch along the side so there's a safe place for the remote, mine doesn't. The most important thing is have your dad sit in the chair. I didn't pay enough attention to this and my ankles hang off the end of the foot rest and this chair is the most uncomfortable piece of crap I have ever bought and here they sell for 1,389.00. The chair looks good but it sure isn't built for comfort. Make sure you buy a long enough one!!! Just my opinion.

I have no idea about those things, I know when my mother had one she had to pay thounsands of pounds for it and when she died it was returned and only got third of it back.

Check with your local furniture stores. Quite often they can order these even if they don't have them in stock. The problem with ordering them from furniture stores is that they are often hard to get repairs if they need them. Check with a store that deals in durable medical equipment sales. They also repair the item and sometimes the repair is free because of warranties on the item.

As far as a store, I am not completely sure, but I would bet that if you were to call your local nursing home or hospital, they could give you the name and number of a place to get them. I know that my Grandparents went throught their pharmacy to get the numbers the needed.
If you are not set on a brnad new one, you may check with health care facilities in your area. Sometimes, they do get rid of them. I kn wwhen I worked in the nursing home, we had several in storage that were not brand new, but they were very gently used. They had to either sell them or throw them away.
