I do not think it is good. Mr. Obama said he is going to be talking with the more reasonable, less fanatical elements of the terrorists but it's still negotiating with them and giving them what they want--in doing so, we are giving up some control and endorsing their actions.
I think there is a bad four years ahead for my country. This president has no idea what he is doing. He campaigned on nothing but vague promises and the people just sucked it up like they were dying of thirst, not questioning anything and they still accuse those of us who question the president of being bad Americans. I think you will see this country go downhill very quickly both financially and morally--look at what he's done in funding embryonic cell research--the practice of creating life then killing it and harvesting its cells for research.

or maybe they are only being terrorists because there is only one thing they want but no one has taken the time to talk to them and ask them. Why not give them what they want if that means world peace? Wouldn't you rather have all the fighting stop?

Sure, I'd love to have no war! But they want the entire world to convert to Islam and I'm not willing to do that. We may worship essentially the same god but I'm not going to change my religion. And I will fight to defend my right to choose how I worship.

going soft on terrorism is a big mistake. US President is making a big mistake looking for softer elements in terrorist. these terrorists are indoctrinated from birth to kill and get killed. negotiating with people who knows only to kill is foolish. its only a matter of time before US realise their foolishness.
But i doubt the sincerity of US administration. They have always sustained genocides and acts of violence. so far not a single incident where americans involved and restored peace.

Well that remains to be seen. Pakistan apparently does not have a very stable government. And there is a philosophy that says "hold your friends close, your enemies closer". Talking like this might just be a ways to get some insight to all that is going on.

Leaders have a duty to protect human life, which always adds to the controversy over their decisions on how to deal with terrorism. If they resist, they endanger the victims held captive by the terrorists, if they yield, they lay themselves open to further terrorists attacks subsequently. It is a harsh dilemma, though, on balance those governments which have refused to surrender to terrorist demands, even at the risk of the victims' lives have usually proved their case. Both governments were able to take this course because majority public opinion in their own countries was behind them. And that is the crux of the matter. If terrorism's bluff is called, whatever the immediate price, the fundamental lack of justification for its methods will lead to its collapse. Both these leaders hopefully will be able to come to a successful end with terrorism. Let the Obama and Osama meet and shake hands for a peaceful negotiation to end all forms of terrorism. Let terrorism be made a history and we all live in a peaceful world.

If it would happen by folks wishing, it would surely come true.. But just recently I watched a documentary telling how much of the terrorist dream is to do away with all they see as 'unbelievers'.. That to me is a bit spooky (and I sure hope they never get their hands on the wrong kind of stuff) and I remember how many nations opted for patience and tolerance toward Mr Hitler and that didn't work out at all well. Sorry to be such a cynic.

Hi Ganesh,
No matter what any President wants to do or try to do they will never be peace, if we get rid of the Talibans, there will be another terrorist will rise so I don't think any President can bring peace but we can hope. Hugs.

Hi Ganesh! I don't quite understand why President Obama is
doing this! I am not particuarly behind him when it comes to
this tactic at all! I do not think that this is the right
thing to do! I see no good coming from negotiating with the
terrorists! They can not be trusted and he knows this so why
is he bothering? If you can not trust the people with whom
you are trying to negotiate with the what is the point? They
will only lie to get whatever they want and how are we supposed
to believe anything that they say!

I agree with one of your commenters. It is the responsibility of our leaders to talk with whomever has a problem with us to see if things can be worked out. Find out where they stand? Is there anywhere were we agree? What do they want from us we can share?
These questions and diaalogue may prevent hostilities.
If they do not then we fight. But you know you tried.

I don't think we are surrenderting to Terrorism. Think deep, how terrorism group gets started. It doesn't start overnight by shooting gunz and throwing bombs. They first find guys who can do it for them. They do it by having chat with them. They brainwash these young men and then it got started. Now, if we are looking to have a talk with them, then it means that we are trying to target those young people. Once we can get young people out from their camp, bingoo! It is a win win situation.
This is my personal opinion only!

That was why I said, "It is my personal opinion only!". I never tried it with my enemies and can't say if it can work.
Wait, if you can remember, SriLankan Govt also tried to have a chat with LITTE and that was why the strength of this terrorist organization was weaken. Later on SL govt did take advantage and now LITTE is taking its last breath in that country

Hello my friend Ganesh44 Ji,
Seeing you after long time. Everyone is interested in its own affairs.
US wants Military rule as only option to curb terrorism. What you say, looks
apperently right. But time would speak the truth. Happy Holi. may god bless you and
have a great time.
