Hey pikey, I have to wear a name badge for work. I like it so that customers can call me by my name rather than shouting "Lady" or "Miss" like they do sometimes, but then there are some customers that I don't want knowing my name as I don't like them due to them being annoying and I don't know their name so why should they know mine. Does it really improve customer service if you know my name???

I wear a t-shirt with the supermarkets name on the back so they know I work there, also its a small supermarket so most of our customers are regular so they know my face. Why do they need to know my name aswell?? Maybe I should ask them their names.

I have never worn a badge or name tag at work before. But I guess it can be both helpful and hindering. Because someone who knows your name can also say who did this or that...

Well, I am tickled pink that you finally got it. As long as you bath regularly I am sure the boss won't be tempted to chase you around the room with a perfume bottle..

Yes, I wear a name tag at work. And I just love it when people still come up to me and ask "Do you work here". I want to reply "No, but I hang out here so much that they made me an honorary member and even gave me my own name tag." I've never considered it a hinderance. If someone is looking to compliment me, well they've got my name in full view and if they are looking to complain, usually the feeling is so mutual that I don't need the name tag, I'll be glad to tell them my name. LOL.

Hi P1kef1sh, Well I own two name badges, one for work with my full name and job title which has to be worn at all times along with my numerous ID cards to get in and out of various bits and the other one is for play which is my Nemo character Bubbles for Fines On/Off nights out. They help me remember who I am LOL. Huggles. Ellie :D

Well, I've had one when I used to work at a Christmas Shop. I only had to wear it during the rush season. Most mornings I was looking around saying Huh! now where did I put that badge, or getting to work without it. It was an annoyance. Customers didn't care what my name was as long as I did my job.

I wear an invisible badge that can only be seen by certain types of people. Those that CAN see it, can clearly read the words - "Hi, I'm James. And I'm a d1ckhead magnet" As you can imagine, my name-tag attracts a lot of d1ckheads.
And in response to your very last question, I guess I would see this as a hindrance.

And here I am after all this time thinking that it was only a pseudonym!
Oh how the rich tapestry that is the TRUTH unveils itself over time..... It's a pleasure to finally make the acquaintance of the real you Richard! Pray tell, how is the little cranium then?

Years ago when I first worked in a bookshop we had badges with our full name on them. I was living in a bigger country town but I was the only one with that surname in the phone book. I started to receive very late night phone calls from a guy who would not identify himself. It was very unpleasant and quite scary. This went on for a little while then we got a new member in the service club I belonged to. I recognised his voice and asked him about it...he laughed and said it was just him having some fun. He apologised but he was shunned by the members and he left. I never heard from him again thank goodness.

But surely you are so famous (or should that be infamous?) that everyone knew who you were without a name badge anyway? Hmmmm - there could be drawbacks to your having a name badge - now if you are naughty people will be able to tell and you'll get into trouble and made to do detention? xxxx

I wear a badge with my name and home location. Everyone here at Alamo Palms RV park is asked to wear one when you are out and about in the Park or Park Buildings. The average age is 71, but there are Quite a few over 90. Some do have to look at their own badge to remember their name after they have had a couple of drinks. In this respect a badge can be helpful, and recently the badges have been upgraded to include a personal picture. Now if a person gets lost downtown or drunk and disorderly out of the park, their picture is just one more piece of information the police can use to drive them back home to the Park. Life is a barrel of monkeys isn't it?

i have to wear a name badge / security tag all the time.i usually wear it on a lanyard around my neck and it becomes really heavy after a while.its good because i have access to all parts of the hospital, but the downfall is that if i have a agressive old demented patient, they usually use it to try a strangle me with. now i have a lanyard that will snap when being strangled,i guess the old dears do not like me sticking a needle in their arm.cheers sue

That reminds me of a story told to me by an Irish nurse - in Ireland. A spanish fisherman had an accident on a fishing vessel and was brought in for treatment. He required an injection in the backside. He had a severe case of wandering hand trouble and the nurses were more than a little tired of him. The lady that I spoke to went and found the largest syringe and needle that she could. The sort of thing that you might use on an elephant (not the too many of those get into Irish hospitals I suppose). She told the man to drop his trousers and proceeded to fill the syringe from a jug of water. He was absolutely petrified. She went behind him, switched syringes and the big pr1ck received a little pr1ck, but screamed anyway!

I wear one at work. It only hinders me when I forget to put it on and the guard is paying attention. They won't let me in without it!!! Maybe if I were wearing the purple dress...

Somehow I don't think so but I guess I won't know until I try....
Then again, the particular purple dress I'm thinking of is hot. One day I might actually even fit into it again...

Most jobs i have had i had to wear a name badge. It never really bothered but when i worked at Wal-mart and i moved around so much it would either get in the way or fall off. Where i work now i dont wear one but i do i have a work id card which i think is pointless because i have never had to use it for anything.

When i worked at the local high school i had to have a photo id and wear it at all times...i think i still have it somewhere...lol. Where i work now its kind of pointless because i work at a company that supplies home health support for those with various disabilities...to help them be more able to live independently. So there are only a few people who work in the office and all the other hundred some odd people work in various homes. I dont even know half of my fellow employees and only meeting the few i do when i have to go in to update my training. I think the only reason we have the work id cards is because it has our clock in numbers on them.

If you possess a badge with your name it may be good or bad fo some people.A police have badge with his or her name. Most people avoid police.Because police creates many problems.First I have to know your job, then I can say you and your badge will come to my help.

I used to work in a restaurant where the name badge was one of the things checked up on by the mystery shoppers. So woe betide anyone who forgot their name badge, we had a selection of dreadful spares to hand out. The result was of course that customers would call their waiter/ess by name, and wonder why they got no reaction!

I'm glad that you're there to help. Now I'll just have to try and think of some things for you to help me with. I'm sure there are a few jobs around the house that need doing..
I have to wear a badge for the voluntary job I do. But as I'm not on the payroll I can't get a proper badge, so I just have to wear a sticker! It confuses the security guards no end, lol!
I used to wear badges in my previous jobs. I didn't mind them, except they had to have my photo on and I always hated my photos with a passion!!

Sounds good. When I lived in Canterbury I used to love going around the cathedral there. If you were wearing two or three badges, I hope they were all saying the same thing, lol! Could lead to all sorts of problems..

Hi p1key,
Well done to you for getting your name badge especially in your job, I think its great!, when I I was working as a supervisor, after a few years we had the contractors took over the agent I was working for and they started new thing about wearing a name badge, as I have been working in that building for over five years and everyone knew me, I felt I shouldn't have to wear one, so I protested over it and won while everyone else had to wear one lol! hugs.

I used to wear a name badge. I don't know that it hindered me, but there were days that it helped, especially if I put it on upside down so that I could read it. It helped me to remember who I was.*LOL*

Customers used to ask me if I did it so that I could remember my name. I always told them yes.

Hi p1kef1sh
Aw well done p1kef1sh, you must so proud and so you should be. As you know I am not working right now but my mum wheres a name badge but it really irritates her. She has a name that can be shortened and even though it has here full Christian name on her badge people still shorten her name and that annoys her a great. Mainly because she thinks how dare a complete stranger be so familiar with her and how dare they shorten her name!! Poor thing it happens to her all the time!!
Congrats again p1key

.

Congratulations on your own new name tag as well. It must be a decent size too with "Mister P1kef1sh" emblazoned across it, so you be careful not to strain anything.
