If you have one, heard of them, or have seen Ladder49, then you know the ring I am talking about and the meaning behind it. Well as many of you know, I went through a break-up, saw it coming, just didn't want to face it..........Now I'm glad I did! lol He is sooooo history, but that's another story. lol Anyway, I have always believed two things, one that when one doors closes another opens, and that each thing that happens happens for a reason. I recently got back to talking to a friend, we have been friends for 12 years or so, and was just that, friends. Until recently, when we discovered that we have a lot in common, and that we had had feelings for each other all along, just never expressed them for one reason or another. A little over a week ago, he turned his Claddagh ring, for me! So if you have one, let me know your story behind it. If you don't know what it is, let me know and I'll explain it.

LOL, yep, it will be in Texas, or nowhere! LOL yeah yeah I know what I said "eatin words" LOL How did I know you'd be the one to point that out! LOL luv ya. A Claddagh ring is Irish in origin, (i'll post a pic of one) It is a heart, held in hands, there is a crown on top of the heart. If the ring is worn with the heart facing down, away from you it means you are available, if it is worn with the heart facing up, towards your heart, it means your heart belongs to someone.

Which way will the heart on your ring face? Oh ok, if you are on the prowl I will look for someone for you not just in Texas but in the neighborhood to get you back in our stomping grounds.
That ring looks very pretty, thanks for posting a link so I could see it.1 person likes this

I have a Claddagh ring and wear it daily. I am not Irish, but grew up around a lot of very dear friends who are Irish, and am dating a wonderful guy who is half Irish himself. Even though Claddagh is not in my heritage, it still means a lot to me with what it stands for, and I'm proud to wear the ring.

It meant alot to me when he turned the ring. He also wants me to have one, which I will be getting soon. Mine will be worn the same as his, with the heart facing up. And I will be proud to wear it also. I just received a gift today, from him, a St Florian medallion, you see, he and I are both firefighters, he's sturcture, I'm wildland. He wanted me to have it before I went back out on the fireline, so that I would be protected.

I have 1 but since I got engaged I haven't worn it. What do you mean by "turning" it though. I guess I missed out on that part LOL

If the heart is facing away from you it means you are available, if it is worn turned towards you, it means you belong to someone.....that's on the right hand. If, on the left hand it is facing away it means you are engaged, if it is facing you it means you are married

I have a silver one with a black stone in the middle of the heart. They are my favorite jewelry and yes, I know the story behind the Claddagh ring and it's so romantic isn't it?

Yes, it is, very romantic. :-). His was given to him by his mom when he turned 18, it is silver with no stone. He also wants me to have one, which I would love too. His mom and dad both have Claddagh rings also. We are both firefighters, and I am expecting a package today......he bought me a St. Florian, which is the protector over firefighters. He wanted me to have it before I go back out on the front line, I'm wildland, he's structure. And your ring sounds beautiful.

I love Claddagh rings! I currently don't have one, but I've been thinking about getting another one. I've had several in the past, but they've all broken, been lost, no longer fit, etc. I definitely want a Claddagh ring when I get married. I just love the symbolism. Plus, I'm of Irish decent, so it also represents my heritage. I either want a Claddagh engagement ring and then a matching wedding band like this one http://www.seawear.com/images/irish/engagement-rings/18kt-white-set~114.jpg Or I want a standard engagement ring and then a Claddagh wedding band like this one http://www.seawear.com/images/irish/wedding-rings/RG713FG~100.jpg

both of those are beautiful, I really like the second one, the band. He is of Irish decent and I'm Irish/scottish. So it fits us perfectly.
