I would do that too if the price was slashed that much! Plus not to mention that left over roasted turkey would always be a welcome treat in sandwiches!

The last couple of years I've bought extra turkey/s around Thanksgiving when they're on sale, then cooked them just before the weather gets hot. There's so much meat on even the small ones that I can get a lot of meals out of it. I love turkey, so there's no wrong time to eat it as far as I'm concerned!

Sounds absolutely wonderful! I would make that too....... except my husband really dislikes Turkey! EEEk! He can't even stand the glorious smell of a turkey cooking! I love it and rarely get to eat it except at Thanksgiving or Christmas.

I watch the met department and any time I can come by a sale or a mark down like that I get it. Something like you are talking about a turkey dinner but not at Thankgiving is always good, who says we have to only have turkey at Thanksgiving. Or I put it in the freezer. I read a article on the net on one of the food sites, that the use by date on food, means it is at it's freshest up to that point and does nto mean it is bad after that and it should be good to use or freeze up to a few days after that date. Kroger's here marks down it meat a couple time a day, and if you hit the store at the right time can load up with a lot of meat.
This dinner you are making will give you at least 2 meals and probably sandwiches or you can freeze the rest for later, so you got a good deal. With the way prices are going up now adays we need to more of what we can get more meals out of. I think you done good.

It is okey to splurge on something once in a while. The best thing with your turley was that you got it on sale!

That sounds delicious! You got a great deal, too! I love it when turkey is reduced, because we cook it and freeze the unused portion. Then, we can unfreeze it later to use for another meal or put in soup or make sandwiches for several days, etc. Turkey is too good to only have once a year, but it is also too expensive to have very often unless they have a special on it.

LOL looks yummy i really feel hungry, but i don't eat pork and beef, my wife cooks nice indian dishes, mostly vegetables no meat or fish. Thank you so much for this nice discussion. keep sharing, happy posting, have a great day, cheers
