Hi sanuanu, first of all thanks for the compliment and positive criticism. Secondly, what you described as new things are as good as some bucket of water in the Thar desert. The changes are in fact pouring both negative and positive and we are taking more of the negative and less of the positive. Right. You just can not be a happy go lucky guy seeing the life of the metros.

You need to come down to the smaller town and finally the rural bases. I know them as I worked as a journalist for more than seven years and left and now joining again UNI.

Yes, rural areas can be a little problem but there you can find real India and we don't want them to be changed. Imagine if rural india also starts using jeans and miniskirts, then where would you find real India.

I am not saying that Villages don't need to be educated and get modern facilities but at the same time we enjoy scent of Indian soil which we can't get in Mumbai or New Delhi.

What exactly is a dirt?

When girls would come out of their hose there will will be around her. Now, every girl likes to impress boys in their teenage. You can't stop her from doing what she wants to do once she is college. After all we guys also try to impress them.

Difference is that now girls are using different things to attract men and that is what making them a little superior to men. We guys don't like to be dominating and that is why we are doing criminal activities against them. Once a girl is a victim of that, she starts thinking she will get penalized one way or another, so, what is wrong in doing such things.

Hi, I must say that you hit the nail on the head. This is more of our Victorian morality and orthodontic approach towards life that a good many positive change specially in thought and way of life are yet to take place. We are not prepared nor are we eager to accept the truth and the positive changes and this is the cause that India is importing most of the illss of the western by product.

I do not say wearing flimsy cloths and going to the discotheque is a positive acceptance, there are so many good out there which we knowingly sideline.

Hi Canellita, very well put. People are afraid of change for they feel secure in the present form. Yes, you have got the true picture of India so far as the family bondage is concerned. But now that too has gone to the dogs as most families have broken into pieces and they live a nucleus life.

Changes are there and are good and bad. But ironically we tend to receive the bad with more rapidity. Yes in India the Victorian morality still persists and counting on the Metropolis would not do the justice. What say?

It is unfortunate that family units are not stronger in every culture across the world. Too many people have materialistic goals that are all about themselves.

People of certain indigenous and traditional societies have come under the influence of others who spread their way of life like a virus killing off cultures and beliefs that have existed for thousands of years.

While it is true that some areas can benefit from some amount of changes it is also true that there is plenty that should be preserved.

You are right, now specially that these indigenous people are the most vulnerable ones to fall prey the negative changes. Here in India I have seen so many tribal folks coming under the influence of this materialistic hammer.

Knowing that i have problems with me would it be worthwhile sitting idle? I guess no. We have unite our voice and let the good one sieve in and be benefited. do not you think so?

Hi sharra, very aptly put. This is really unfortunate that those who preach of changes are against this when things come down to the reality. We really need some politicians who are courageous enough to resist the evil and are able to install the good.

I think the only way to really change our society is to change from a society based on individual greed to one that is genuinely community based. I do not mean communism because that is just as bad as greedy capitalism. I mean a society that is not based on money but on values.

I have no idea if it could work but it needs to balance the needs of individuals and communities. It would be one where there was no money at all. Every person got the basic needs provided for them and they got rewards for merit above those needs. They could use those credits to obtain the luxury items that are not part of basic needs.

It is idealistic and I am not sure if human greed can really change but it would be a world where one person cannot own everything else. It can only work in a world where greed is not allowed to become destructive. That means strong regulations and a change of values where things and people are valued for what they contribute to society not for how much money they can make. This would mean that knowledge would be valued again for its own sake. People would be able to do the things they are good at and love rather than have to work at a job they hate just to survive because they would be rewarded for contributing to their culture.

Hi sharra, another novel suggestion. yes that is the only option left now. If we could go to that method there would be some respite or else no. Yes to change the political colour is difficult but if tried we can get united through opinion spreading and thus elect the able and responsible one to rule the country.

Hello Diana, so rye an account, so much from the nerve and sense. Not every one's cap is this. The last line is the icing on the cake - "May be Victorian morality was not bad after all."

Agreed that culture differs from country to country but this does not denote that they do not have affinity with each other. It is in the strongest arm that ensuring and delivering of this culture thing could vary but the goal remains the same. After all the difference is not between the pristine society and pristine culture but all they are the product of the contemporary history. This is upheld in true spirit but gets corrupt on the way. Corrupt things smells rather quickly and spontaneously than he safe and non corrupt.

As the older generatin is not all jumps and yelling to heil the progress change as they are cosy in the form they are. The grandchildren pick up things and bring home unchecked and unfiltered and a new confrontation gets a go.

Here at present it is total confusion and conflicting ideas Rajib and not easy to live with or predict the future.
The older generation trying to understand the youngsters. The immigrants from many other countries trying to settle in to European traditions but wanting their own here too, which in some cases are very conflicting.

Not an easy situation and if a person has set ideas and is not open to change it can cause some very horrid situations sadly.

Hello Diana, there your version sounds much alarming. I do not understand why the immigrants try to have their share too I fail to enter into. Conflict is very normal when people hang themselves on a rope and want to free both hands. They must learn or respect the culture and value of the land where they never belonged to.

Its too sad a matter.

I agree that they should accept that they are in a different country and adapt to how the find things here just as we should do if we move elsewhere (I did many years ago when I moved). That is not the way it is every time sadly.

Ungrateful lot I say. You know there are millions of illegal Bangladeshi migrants that when there is a Cricket Match between India and Pakistan, they cheer for Pakistan. Now just know and collapse. You live in a country that is deeding you besides allowing a roof over your head you are being loyal to an alien nation!!!!!

We are plagued by boats full illegal immigrants arriving from Libya. They are placed in centres and some get sent bak to where they came from, some stay but while they are there they are fed and clothed with money fromour taxes.
Other arrive illegally from China. Others are here legally from other EEC countries.
The common denominator to many is that they EXPECT to do as they did where they lived before. Many have no jobs so the crime rate increases. Many create work among themselves setting up illegally. Those that get regular jobs here with work permits, marry and set up families then expect to build their own churches here, setting up their own communities and doing as they did in their own countries. If they are not able to adapt then why move in the first place?

The refugees or migrated people are confused all the times. They didn't get anything from their own countries but they will always cheer for them. It is like a boy was thrown out from his house by their family members but he will still like to think good about them, after all they are their own blood relatives. Difficult to forget them but then they must also not forget that the place where they are living, he has some duties towards it too.

As long as they are fulfiling their duties, I don't see any problems.

When they are fulfilling their duties then they have every right to stay and become part of the country of course. It is those others that I have doubts about.

Hi, tension and competition would be there but effort should be to face them from within and I hope things would wear better shape soon.
