Pirates today are just like the pirates of old, they do not respond to laws of the lawful but only deterrence. We have laws that say that private boats on international water cannot have arms on or in the ship, yet this does not stop the pirates. Just like banning firearm on school property does not keep firearms off of school property so to does these U.N law keep our international waters safe. Pirates only attack unarmed vessel.
Here is what Congressmen Ron Paul's take on the Somali pirates

I say that the money paid for ransoms should have bombs bundled into it. The ransoms are paid, and the pirates get exactly what they deserve. ;~)

Dude, that goes far beyond brilliant. Of course the politicians involved are far too cowardly to ever use something like that. The spineless promoters of piracy don't even have the balls to put a freaking dye pack in with the ransoms they pay.

Ron Paul makes a very good point.
Recent news articles have said that the pirates are used to being unopposed by their victims.
That should change immediately.
Strike those laws forbidding the ships being armed, and let those crews have the means to defend themselves and to stop these hijackings.
The absence of weapons on these ships are the reason they are being taken, and the fact that these pirates know that the crews won't fight back is the reason they are even trying.
When the ships start fighting back is when the piracy will end.

Arming the vessels to take care of themselves is also the Donald's (Trump) way of dealing with piracy. Don't know what that says about things but it's interesting that Mr. Trump and Mr. Paul appear to be on the same page.

African union and United Nation have to take the initiative to take back control of international water and region around Horn of Africa if Somali refuse to end their relationship with all these African high sea bandits and continue to provide safe haven to them.

I think the whole world should unite and take decisions to overcome this growing problem..
There are so many technologies available, spy satellites can be used to find their locations give live information....predators can be used to attack with the locked coordinates...
But why no one is taking any steps, I dont know....
Is it that it will trigger greater terrorism...
Well the one who thinks like that, this is no satyayug.....u are in Kalyug and Man's an extortionist....
And the pirates arent just quarelling with you they are robbing you off, cold heartedly...taking lives...
For the sake of your country, for sake of integrity and security of the world all the countries should unite and deal with this scum....
