Anyone Wear A Wedding Dress In A Colour Besides White Or Ivory?

I have a cousin's cousin who wear red gown during her wedding day and the rest of the bride's maids wear also different gown colors, they don't have a color motiff.

I wore white but I did crochet my own dress. You will be happy to know that in Japan, the traditional color to wear is red for the bride. However, you do see more western type weddings where the bride is in white instead of the red kimono

I think the trend now is a varied choice of colors for wedding gowns. The traditional white has been a second choice in preference for more refreshing colors. During my time no one dared to go for other colors and the shops that rent out wedding gowns do not have the choice of colors unlike now where you can pick the rainbow colors on wedding gowns. How lucky the new brides are now? They not only look very charming in real but the snapshots are very captivating.

My first time married I was married at the court house in slacks and a top......several months pregnant and with my 2 year old at my feet. The second time we also got married at the courthouse......same pastor, even!! lol But 2 months later we had a small ceremony at the church where I had gone as a child. My dress was black and green. My sweet mother told me, "marry in black, marriage won't last"...........she was right!! But my three girls had on white dresses to make up for the white dress that I never wore.

I wore ivory and was very traditional looking. But I have heard of brides opting for a less traditional route like you. I think that is great, it is more you. My sister has worked for years in catering and she has seen it all in bridal attire. She says the fanciest wedding she ever worked, the bride wore black!

When my hubby and I got married my dress was a traditional white color. I didn't really want it to be, but I didn't really have any other choice as that was the only wedding dress I could find that I fit into. Reason being that I was 6 1/2 months pregnant so I needed a BIG in the belly area dress. I borrowed my dress from a friend, and to cut down on the costs we had the wedding at our house and the Justice Of The Peace came here to our home. We weren't going to spend extra money on the wedding that we could put towards something for the baby that was on the way!

For my first marriage I wore the long white gown with veil, for my second marriage I wore a knee-length sleeveless dress with matching tuxedo jacket in a champaigne colour. I managed to find shoes that matches exactly and it looked great. I still have that dress and have worn it a couple of times since. The first wedding dress I rented. I didn't buy a wedding dress for thousands of dollars; I rented it for $400 and the bridesmaids rented their dresses as well for $80. Didn't have bridesmaids at my second wedding; just my sister standing by my side.

My second marriage I wore a dusty rose colored lace and chiffon dress, just below knee lenghth. First marriage was the all out blow out peau de soi white dress. Mom crocheted irish crochet sleeves with pearls. It was what I wanted at twenty. I do not know exactly when the white formal dress thing got started. I know that in pioneer times you just basically wore your best dress, or whatever. I know in some cultures black was typical. I think in other countries more joyful, stronger colors like red and saffron yellow are often used. I like red. Dusty rose just fit the mood of the time in my life. You should wear what you want at the time you get married.

I'll bet you look great both times. White is traditional but I think its up to the bride.
