which hurts the most the TRUTH or the LIE?

For me, no matter how it hurts, I prefer to be told the truth. Maybe the truth is more cruel than a lie, but anyway, we must accept what has really happened before we can move on.
Besides,it's also very difficult for me to tell a lie. It makes me feel so guilty that it would keep hovering over me all the time before I have to say the truth out.

Well, this is interesting. Everybody gets at last hurt by falsehood. Almost everybody would say that he hates a liar. But in actual fact with the worlds perversities truth is mostly stigmatized. In most of the cases lies are presented in such a manner that it would sound like a truth and the person doing so would clamour that is the righteous. How come then that crimes, corruption, nepotism and all the bad things of the world are become the rule of the law now-a-days. The rich, the politicians, the bureaucrats all over the world are mostly the liars of the first order and they would still say that they are the most truthful people of the world. However, a thing that has a lasting effect on your character and on your conscience and gives you real happiness and peace of mind is the righteousness. If you are true and if you are asked to repeat the same fact over and over again even after years your answer answer will be the same always. If you are a liar, you will speak different things at different occasions and at last you will be exposed as a liar. Keep up being a truthful person and best of luck and happiness in the life here and if you believe in life hereafter it would be still better.

Personally, I'd rather get hurt with the truth than live happily because of a lie. I think this is natural because seeking for the truth is part of the rationality of people.

I feel that when a lie is told when there is no need for a lie to be told, it is showing a disrespect. As a therapist, I recognize that when a person tells a lie, he/she is creating a conflict at a subconscious level, but saying something that is no so. Smaller white lies don't tend to have much of an impact because they are used to spare the feelings of another from a harsh truth. But as you say, we each must learn to handle the hard truths that we come across in life in our own way.. - Derek.

People are different and they are supposed to be different or else there would be no charm of life as such. You say you can not live with lie. This can not is definitely a challenging and ego creating one. Why you know? Once you have declared that you can not live with lie. Just fancy a situation where there are lies and lies and you are forced by your moral or humanistic stance to cope up or there would be trouble not only to your person but also to your people and community as well. What will you do then? This is a difficult situation and therefore I say for me both hurt.

Both truth and lie are hurting for me. The truth of my mother's death three years ago was too hurting for me but it was true and I was not easy with this 'truth'. Similarly when my students lie that they did their lesson hurt me. This is true to be a lie that that they did not tell me the truth.

So I have learned to live with both 'truth' and 'lie'.

It all depends on situation. Maybe you have to lie in order to keep your loved ones from feeling hurt. People call this a white lie. But to choose between the truth and lie, I go for the truth. No matter how much the truth hurts, I believe that something good will definitely come out of it.

I need my partner to be honestly to me completely, I do not want to leave with the lie. Life full with lie will not take longer, and this is not the way to keep the relationship. The lie is hurts the most for me.

Well we are ordinary persons,not saints.We get heart when our interestes are not served.It does not matter whether our interests get heart with truth or lie.But we should realize that truth is afterall the truth whether we accept it or not.I have been trying to accept the truth even if it does not suit to my interests.If someone points at a weakness that i have,i try to accept it and take measures to remove it.But i confess that accepting the truth is very very difficult.

Its hard to say.Sometimes,both truth and lie can hurt. But its better to be hurt by truth than be fooled by lie.I cant stand being fooled.

For sure, truth hurts. However, I would prefer the truth. This truth hurts only for the moment, and will make one stronger if one realises the truth is a fact. It might be blessed to be ignorant, however, when the lie is exposed (there will be a day the lie is exposed), it will hurt even more then.
