Have you ever fainted? (Warning: Not for the weak at heart) |
|
What was the cause?
I haven't been mylotting for the past few days due to being sick with a bad flu since Friday (5/01/2009). I wouldn't doubt if it was the swine flu, though it wasn't confirmed. But I had severe diarrhea and vomited for several hours Friday night (and a few times Saturday as well). Yeah, I know, gross, but that's why I put the warning up ).
Anyway, late Friday night/Saturday morning I was having one of my "moments" at the kitchen sink when I felt really hot all of a sudden. I took off the sweater I was wearing as quickly as I could. After I did my arms went numb, then my legs. The next thing I knew I came to while laying on the kitchen floor. Yep, I had fainted. I don't know how long I was out for, but I don't think it was for too long. All I know was that it was midnight because I looked at the clock that was on the wall overhead.
Well, here I am a few nights later, still weak, but gaining my strength back. If it was the swine flu, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Between the throwing up, diarrhea, not being able to stomach any food (eating it and throwing it right back up, but certainly not wanting to), and being pretty much bedridden, it is a flu that leaves you feeling like you've been on a really bad carnival ride that you wish you never got on. The only difference is that this flu is even worse than that.

2. mibngold (1525) | 8 months ago | Hi There, long time woman! I have actually fainted twice... 1st time, I faked some rash on my arm to get out of French class & my wonderful mother insisted on taking me to the doctor...They gave me a shot in the rear & I promptly passed out, I landed right on my chin...The doctor said that I had scabies...My mother disinfected the whole house....20 years later, I confessed to the fake out & man, was she pissed! I did not have anything wrong with me at all.
2nd time, I went to Atlantic City & stayed out in the sun just a bit too long...I was mall shopping & I just passed out in the middle of the mall....That must have been because of my super fair skin...It was SOOOOO embarrasing!
Lesson learned? Doubtful! Nice to see you!

mibngold (1525) | 8 months ago | Oh & I sure hope that you feel better soon!

mibngold (1525) | 8 months ago | I am really glad that you didn't get hurt too. As for the scabies scare...I sat in French class (who the hell takes French anyway?) and I wanted to get out of the class so badly that I scratched the living hell out of my arms....As for the doctor...do any of them know what they are doing? PLEASE! It was pretty embarrassing to have my dad pick me up at the school in the cop car though....15 or so years later, when I told my mom, she just wanted to kill me....As usual, I didn't see what the big deal was! Hope to see you again soon! Tracy

sacmom (5827) | 8 months ago | I don't know, I took Spanish myself. Failed miserably just the same as I skipped a lot of school that year! LOL
Ouch! I guess that's one way to give yourself a rash!
Yeah, you don't need to tell me twice about doctors. Though I know of at least one that knew what he was doing. Too bad I was too young to remember him. I would love to met up with him again one day, if he's still alive, that is, to thank him because he literally saved my life.
It may sound strange, but I'm a little jealous. My dad never picked me up in his cop car. But then again my parents were divorced by the time I was 10.

|
mibngold (1525) | 8 months ago | Well Doll, my dad picked me up in the cop car because no one else was available...I was embarrassed! I would have done anything to get out of school...I once skipped with my best friend for 2 weeks straight. She got caught, I did not! I felt so bad. Although I did do well in school! Go Figure! My parents divorced when I was 6 but they remained friends (how she could maintain any friendship is beyond me...I don't care for her very much, if you haven't picked up on that already!) And they also lived about 3 houses away from one another, so I was lucky in that aspect! I am so damn tired right now, I haven't had more than 3-4 hours of sleep in the last 48 hours! Would it be Ok if you PM'd me & gave me your email? I may jump out of this Lot pretty soon and I would like to keep in touch! Just put your name in the subject line...Deal? Gotta get some sleep now, Fu(king insomnia is killing me! 5:42 in the a.m....simply ridiculous! Ciao for now! Tracy

mibngold (1525) | 8 months ago | Hey, if you think 2 weeks is bad...I almost didn't graduate...had I missed just ONE more day, I was done for! I also used to slug a six pack with my friends every morning before school. I was just the model student! But...I had a B average and only needed one credit to graduate...figure that one out! I got your PM, I just need your name now...I did reply to your PM a little while ago! I don't wanna lose you as a friend either! Tracy

mibngold (1525) | 8 months ago | OK...No Sandra...Yes, that was the best I could come up with at the time. People usually call me either Terri or Stacey & that annoys the hell out of me. You should be getting some mail rather shortly, so please be on the lookout!

mibngold (1525) | 8 months ago | Take your time...I'll be up for a while & try to remember that it is a possibility to have people that you do get along with and also others that you do not get along with! You and I have an awful lot in common...I will certainly understand whatever you decide! You can always choose to have both too ya know! No hard feeling, either way!

sacmom (5827) | 8 months ago | I probably did at one point, but I didn't get to check. The thermometer was out of reach. It was hard enough to get up to puke and use the bathroom. Other than those two things I was pretty much in bed sleeping.
I doubt a doctor could do anything for me now. I'm feeling better anyway. Plus they are so damn costly. I tend to avoid them like the plaque, though if I was getting worse instead of better I'd probably be seeing them by now.

4. grecychunny26 (5023) | 8 months ago | Sacmom, how are you feeling right now? I hope you will be well before Mother's day. My mom is also sick. I also fainted before while at work. I just feel numb all over and when I woke up I found myself in a small clinic. My lips are pale and my hands was color violet. The doctor said I was low blood, he recommended me to take Iron.

sacmom (5827) | 8 months ago | I'm feeling better, though still a little nauseous. I can stand for longer periods too, thank goodness. All that bed rest was driving me crazy! But my body knew it was needed and I for one wasn't going to ignore what my body said.
I hope your mom feels better soon!

5. Danielle010507 (166) | 8 months ago | I had this one time, I'm looking for a job and roam around the hot city of Manila. I went into buildings and buildings and I had this interview waiting for the rest of the day. With the hot sun outside and cold aircon inside the building, I fainted when I was walking my way home. Glad to have a friend with me, he bought me to the nearby building and the security guards gave me a glass of water. After that, I felt better.

6. Modestah (7932) | 8 months ago | Goodness, I do hope you get to feeling better soon.
I have come close to fainting a few times, but do not believe I have ever actually passed out.
The most vivid memory of such a spell was from when I was 16 and was at my aunt's wedding. The church was very crowded and there was little to no air flow. I told my mother that I was feeling strange - and I was shaking all over and got hot and sweaty all at a sudden. She said YOU ARE GOING TO PASS OUT and forced me to put my head between my knees. After my episode passed she took me outside for fresh air.
I recall the feeling as being frightening.
my son was sick last month - major sinus infection - around his eyes so they were bulging out as well as other sinus pockets were just filled with infection. Anyhow, he lives in a boarding house (going to school) and when he was praying night prayers with the other kids he just toppled over.... out cold. They said he hit hard, but was only out for less than a minute.

sacmom (5827) | 8 months ago | Thanks Modestah!
Passing out can be a very frightening thing. However, I didn't have time to be frightened. I passed out before I even knew what hit me.
I have to ask, what exactly do you mean that your son's eye's were bulging out? Like they were popping out of their sockets? I didn't know a sinus infection could make the eyes do that. Weird.
I hope your son's feeling a lot better now!

9. kun2349 (7264) | 8 months ago | Hopefully it wasn't the swine flu that got to u, if not u are gonna be qurantine at home for at least a week or so!!
Well, i have never fainted before so far, and thus i wont know how the feeling is like.. hehe^_^ BUt there are times whereby i almost fainted due to dehydration as well as hunger.. Those feeling of gonna faint can be very sudden and it depends on our willpower as well.. If one really holds on and dun wanna faint, it's possible to do so, but it's gonna be very difficult.. hehe^_^
Hopefully, u will be able to recover from your flu soon, as it's not a nice feeling to be sick for too long^_^

kun2349 (7264) | 8 months ago | I wont be able to control, if i were to throw up too.. hehe^_^ BUt there are always symptons to look out for just before one faints.. Such as giddiness, or a sudden feel of weakness and blurred vision.. ONce u experience any of that, stop whatever u are doing immediately and sit down, that will prevent u from fainting as your body is now in relaxed mode..

|

sacmom (5827) | 8 months ago | I'll have to remember that in case it ever happens again. Thanks kun!
