This Swine Flu garbage is a load of crap cooked up by the media.

It's garbage people that was cooked up to get better ratings and keep people interested in the news. How many people in the US have died from this swine flu? TWO, and both were already in poor health. The second person isn't even a sure thing yet. Do you know how many people die from the REGULAR flu in the US every year? 30,000. How many are hospitalized due to the regular flu? 200,000. This is not a pandemic. It's not an emergency. It's not a reason to start closing down schools. It's disgusting the way the media has blown this out of proportion and I'm disgusted with the Obama Administration feeding into the frenzy. These morons don't care about the collateral damage associated with the panic. They don't care about the fact that hospital emergency rooms are now flooded with morons who think they have the swine flu because of a tummy ache or a sore throat. There are people in need of urgent medical care who are stuck waiting in line behind perfectly healthy people because of the panic. Am I the only one who realizes what a load of crap this panic of the swine flu is?

I don't agree that this was media hype. This specific variation of the flu had not been seen before so the CDC had no way of predicting how severe or widespread it would be. Personally, I'd rather have the federal, state and local municipalities err on the side of caution, keep people informed and close schools for a few days than the alternative. If you're complaining because caution was exercised and nothing much happened, imagine the outpouring of rage if nothing was done and this bug turned out to be a serious threat.

I agree it doesn't hurt to err on the side of caution. I think simple, commonsense cleanliness comes into play here. Wash your hands, cover your mouth and if you're sick-stay home.

I agree and, IMO, more folks were taking these measures *because* of the media coverage than would have otherwise. This is a case of Da*ned if you do and Da*ned if you don't. With some folks, no matter what choice is made...it's the wrong one.

"Never let a crisis go to waste"... even if you have to manufacture one. It is nothing more than hype for a political agenda... much like the climate change non issue.

No you are not the only one who does realise it is actually the media hype that is doing all the damage. In my country we have about a dozen people that have contracted the swine flu and about three hundred that could have it. It takes so long to diagnose as well. But there is one thing that helps fight it is a medicine called Tamiflu as long as you take it within 48 hours of the onset it helps the body fight. Have had no deaths in my country, I don't think there will be either as people are screened as they come off the planes from overseas and treated. It all depends how fast the ones in charge act too as well.

i think the media is blowing it way the hell out of proportion. It's crazy!!! They did the same thing with the Bird Fue, and with SARS in 2003. Remember SARS? Mom was al upset that I went to toronto as many times as I did because she was worried I'd catch it. LOL Nothing happened. I just did what I normally do.
