have you tried eating without using spoon and fork? |
|
Here in the Philippines, some Filipinos eat without using spoon and fork and used to such habit. Especially in far flunk areas or squatter areas, most houses have no spoon and fork when they have their breakfast, lunch or dinner. I, for myself, have instances where I don't like to eat using fork and spoon. I love to eat using my hands and fingers only when we are on a picnic with lots of barbecue, finger foods, grilled food. I can feel the justice of eating if I am using my hands. It seems like I am satisfied with what I eat, I can feel what I have eaten, when I am not using spoon and fork on those occasions. How about you?

12. always_natalia (337) | 8 months ago | Oh yes, some foods in Indonesia would only taste great when we eat them without using spoon, fork and knife:)
I had the same experience when I was staying in Malaysia for students exchange program. Most of my Malaysian friends eat their foods just using their hands, even for soup.
I agree with you, we can really enjoy the food when we don't use fork or spoon to eat them...Asian habit I guess:)

But that never really got us anywhere. Well one day when we were visiting my dad's sister, she insisted that we eat using our hands, since according to her, the food tasted so much better this way, and so unbeknownst to my dad we did and we loved it. My dad found out but he was now cool with it and currently, especially when im anything anything grilled or fingerfood like chicken, i sometimes use my hands when eating. the only exception to this rule now is when there's soup or if the food is too hot to handle.:D

14. patialvi (463) | 8 months ago | well, surely a question for south indians. Maximum of them use their hands while eating anything without spoon & fork even if they have it. I don't think its bad eating with your hands but be sure that you hands are well washed with a good soap. Even i sometime find it good to eat with hands not only barbecue etc..but rice and other meals...

We use our hands for eating and i love eating this way. In south india i am not very sure but i havent seen them using spoons or forks . And their curry portion of food is very thin and i have seen countless people eating rice and curry with hands only. They would mix curry in rice and then spoon a portion of rice in fingers and put that in their mouth. I think every place has different way of eating and the way u eat u feel most comfy in that.

There some instances that I don't like to use my hand on eating. It is the best to use hands on eating when you are in picnics and your food is on the banana leaves. It is common for us as a Filipino to use our hands. Make sure that our hands are clean before eating.

18. harryt123 (326) | 8 months ago | From studying many different cultures, I know that there are a few that do use their hands and no eating utensils. I have personally, depending on the food itself used only my hands to eat. For example, a sandwich, fruit, fries, cookies and chips. One enjoys the food more when using their hands is what I have heard more times than once and I do believe this to be the case in most situations.=)

19. shambhujit (918) | 8 months ago | Here in India we have our lunch and dinner without using spoons and forks. I really wonder why people are up to making simple things so difficult. If eating with hands seems messy, eating with spoons and forks increases the cleaning job. Isn't it?
