Aging is Inevitable. Are you actively trying to delay it? |
|
It has been said that two things are inevitable--aging and dying. Many people fear either one or both. Do you or will you do all things possible to delay the aging process? To what extent? Will you be willing to under the knife, have expensive treatments done on your face, or simply lie about your age?
The most that I do to try and delay aging or at least look a bit younger (though some people say that I do look young for my age) is color my graying hair a shade of light brown. What about you?

You just can't lie all the time about your age and about dying: you can't run away from that. One day you will be dead. Why are you afraid of it now? It can be now or anytime. They will come to you without asking your permission. Thank you

2. burnleyboy (121) | 7 months ago | Aging is far from inevitable, thats a matter of fate, death is certainly something that happens to us all. We all would like to age gracefully, but it just doesn't happen, best we just live each day and pray we have many of them. As a believer, i'm guessing that no matter what i do to myself, i will still die on the day i'm meant to.

3. roniroxas (5937) | 7 months ago | i am not willing to go under the knife. that would be a waste of money. age means wisdom and knowledge. even we go under the knife the age will still show. as you age your motion is also affected. you may look young but in motion it will still show. i will aged gracefully and witha smile. thats more good than spending too much on how to stay young. laughing with my children is a good way to make me feel young and look young.

|
blungel0830 (348) | 7 months ago | I like what you said about how age will show because our motion starts to slow. Hahaha... That is so true!
Laughter and smiles keep us young at heart. The attitude towards life is what matters more than the one's physical appearance. May you have many more years of laughter with your children.
Keep on enjoying life, my friend.

4. carolscash (4886) | 7 months ago | Although we all know that we are aging and going to die, I believe that we need to live as though we are still young and carefree. We need to learn to not be so stressed and worried about things that we can't control. I believe that when we do things like that then we will age better.

blungel0830 (348) | 7 months ago | If we try not to worry, we will not only age better but will also live longer. Worrying does not add a cubit to our life but might just help shorten it.
Don't worry, be happy and you will live long.:D
Thanks for your response.

5. med889 (2804) | 7 months ago | Age problem is one of the truth of Buddha and it is nothing but the bitter truth, we cannot do anything about it no matter what kind of operations we might do.
I do feel a bit odd to see that I am aging compared to the one who are smaller to me but I have found the solution to stay young and the only way is to walk with time. If we walk with time then we will not be lacking behind. We have to forget the physical aspects and choose to better grow up in our minds.
I am doing the same thing. I know I will turn very old one day but I want to keep my mind young which I do not need to do any operations for it.

blungel0830 (348) | 7 months ago | I quote Henry Ford: "Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young." Indeed, a mind that continues to learn new things will stay young and no operation can change one's attitude towards learning.
Keep a young mind, med889. Thanks for posting.

6. katsalot1 (881) | 7 months ago | I believe in growing old gracefully, and would never do anything to conceal my age. I find it sad that so many people go to such great lengths to pretend that they are younger, and to be honest it doesn't work. People who spend a lot of time and money on their looks rarely look any younger, they just look like they have spent a lot of time and money on their looks, which inevitably seems sad!

blungel0830 (348) | 7 months ago | Hahaha...yeah you are right most of those who go through great lengths to look young only look like they spent a lot of money on their looks. But then, at least, they succeeded in flaunting that they DO have lots of money to spend. I remember a celebrity say that it is sinful to look ugly (and maybe in this case, old) if you have lots of money to spend to become beautiful (and young).:D

blungel0830 (348) | 7 months ago | Hi. It is a good thing that you don't lie about your age because you don't have to as long as you continue to be thankful to God for the days that He blesses you with. A thankful heart shows itself in a happy disposition. May you have many more happy and healthy years with your loved ones.

8. dragon54u (9812) | 7 months ago | I don't understand what people are so afraid of! Looking your age is a respectable part of life and I'm doing nothing to fight it. I can understand some coloring their hair but I'm proud of my grey/silver hair and don't want to color it. What I do NOT understand is people having surgery, spending thousands or millions to look younger. They should be proud of their age, it means (hopefully) that they've lived long enough to be wiser and more experienced than their younger counterparts.
Old age used to mean you got respect because you had lived longer and learned more than younger people. Now old age is no longer respected and that is sad.
| |
| |
|
|
blungel0830 (348) | 7 months ago | Same thought here. If only these people would realize that surgeries and treatments change only a person's looks but not revive their strength. "The glory of young men is their strength. And the honor of old men is their gray hair." (Prov. 20: 29) Like your said, it is honorable to have gray hair as gray hair equates to more wisdom and experience.
It is indeed sad that some of the younger people today lose respect for the elderly nor seek advise from them. Both the young and the old have their own advantages, each must seek to make their contribution to society, and neither should despise or envy the other.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

| 9. ahmeertahmad (46) | 7 months ago | I largely believe that people can age gracefully and that's the best way to go about things. We should try to take care ourselves by eating a healthy diet and having good hygiene. I don't think there's anything wrong with dying your hair or getting spa treatments etc... Minor things like that are natural for someone to do as a mild expression of vanity/fear of death or whatever else you want to call it. As for myself, I honestly don't think I'm going to dye my hair or do anything to appear younger but I'll never really know until I get older. As it is people always think I'm significantly older than what I am.
