Impulse buyer or thinker?

I have to admit that I can be an impulse buyer---well most of the time when Im out. I tend to forget thinking whether I need or just for pleasure. Some of my friends say I try to keep things slow and get in the habit of thinking first before picking up those lovely clothes or shoes...which is what Im doing everytime I go to mall. How about you are you an impulse buyer too? or do you think first before buying things?

if i have lots of money i am impulsive buyer but when i only a mall budget, i think twice before i buy something. but after all the hardship that i been thru this year, i now become wiser and thinker than being impulsive buyer. i cant remember the last time i went shopping or i buy something for myself.

Most of the time I try to make it a habit to be a thinker before I decided to buy something. As a wise consumer, I will always make sure that every cents that I spent is worthy, especially under current economic situation. However, there are some times where the thing is simply to irresistable for me to own it, then I will buy it without thinking much. Usually these are those small ticket item...

sometimes i do think first before i buy it. It depends on how much money i have or i can afford it. Sometimes it depends on my mood, coz i find myself keep buying things when the time im depress, coz it's the way of releasing and coping my depression. But recently because of recession, i need to think first before i buy. Happy posting.

Me too. I am a very impulsive buyer. I get too excited shopping I often buy things I can practically survive without. One time I bought a shoe that I wore twice only.I really regret that. he money I spent for that shoe was a real waste.

I think Im a bit of both. Sometimes I go with a list or go to get a certain item(s) other times I get thinks when I have no intention of buying anything. This usually happens when I see a great purse on sale or a movie on sale that I want.

I think it depends on my mood. If I am feeling happy and confident I find I am a lot more likely to buy something on impluse. Wheras if I am feeling a little sad or down I might put more thought into what I buy. There are of course times when I have to watch what I am spending so then I will also be more frugal and think a lot about the cost per wear of an item. It really just depends. However, some things are just that stunning that you want them whatever your mood is:)

exactly! Stunning is the word to describe those wonderful creations.. I know, it depends sometimes in our mood.. the happier you are the more you tend to buy things and then everything you see is like what you need. Thanks for sharing Tiamjr!

I am a smart shopper and I try to get the most for my dollar. I will shop around for the best deal and also look for a coupon to save money also. I have bought on impulse before but ti was only because I found a good sale.

I used to be an impulse buyer when I was single and I have some money saved up. But now that I am already a mother of two kids, I think about it many many times before I buy anything, especially if its for myself. I think I can see my impulse buying side when its stuffs for my kids. I try to be careful because I have a budget to follow and I don't want to sacrifice the needs for the wants.

I am a thinker before I go shopping and I often take a shopping list with me. However if I notice a bargain I can impulse buy a product. I especially liked it when I saw all baby and toddler items had one third off the price. I got loads of nappies and food for my 25 month old son. Then I noticed a great offer on dog food so I grabbed loads of it for my trolley. When I am traveling overseas I know which things I wish to buy. I love to get a costume doll for my collection, postcards, a t-shirt for my mother and some fridge magnets for my sister.

I'm a thinker. I look at sales and match up coupons to get the best deal out there. I wish my stores would double then it would help out even more but I'm trying to save the most money I can so I have to think about it before I buy it. hopefully the economy picks up soon and things will get a little better.

I don't think I'm an impulsive buyer at all. I WANT a lot of things but I try my best to stick to what I need and not what I want. I know that I can afford what I need, but I wouldn't be able to afford all the things I want. I do however treat myself once in a while by giving in to certain whims, just as long as it's within the range of the monthly budget I set :) My strategy is know the total of my net income in a month. Then set how much I save and how much the bills would cost me for the month. I'd put those aside on the first day of the month so I wouldn't accidentally spend them. Then I'd know how much I can spend for that month :) Thanks for the response on my discussion :)

I am a thinker. I will often begin to buy things and then put them back because I know that they aren't necessary and I can easily do without. This habit of mine has always been helpful to me, but it drives my hubby crazy. He gets so irritated when I spend time looking for something just to turn around and put it back a few minutes later.

i can be an impulse buyer.whenever I visit vintage or secondhand stores and they have new displays,I go overboard and buy a lot!it's a good idea that I get to buy a lot of vintage clothes with my budget.even if I go overboard,it's not a lot of money.

I used to be a big big impulse buyer. Now things are getting better now. I try to cancel many unnecessary purchases though I sometimes slip back into my old habit. I find that my attitude and preference for buying is changing day by day. now I tend to buy more food for my family and snacks for myself. In the past, I spent a lot on clothes and bags and rings and other ornaments. I'm glad things are changing this way, which means I am more practical.

I have been both actually. When I was younger and unmarried and earning too, I was a compulsive shopper. I would buy anything that caught my fancy…from inexpensive trinkets to expensive watches or clothes. During those times, money did not matter and I would buy not only for myself but for others too, whenever I wanted to gift something. But now with money becoming so expensive and my own family, I can no longer buy whatever I feel like…I always plan beforehand the list of things I’ll be needing and the expenses for them. If required, I might even plan and save money for a few months and then go and buy.

I like my money way too much to wnt to part with it, so I'd better want something really badly before I'll go out and spend the money. I have things that I like to do for myself on a day to day basis, and things that I need to do to keep the household running, but the rest of the time I tend to save my money and think about larger purchases, rather than just going out and buying something.

hello mz_Ira, I think it's just normal for girls having a lot of fun shopping. But now a days that life is getting more harder I think we need to think first twice or so before buying things that are not really necessary. In my case, I used to go shopping a lot too but I'm proud to tell you that not anymore. Maybe you can do that too unless you have a lot of budget it's fine.

I'm only thinking ... i'm thinking when i like, i buy i don't know if i was an impulse buyer group or not sometimes i will consider if the goods is really important to me or not, the only things that can hamper me to shop is how much money i'm already spend at that day usually i'm budgeting how much money i can spend to shop

I carefully plan everything I buy, and my priorities are the basic needs. I don't just buy everything I see when I like it; even though I have a credit card. I allot a portion for savings too and the moment I have an extra that's the only time I'll think about what I can buy or if I'm going to buy... I'll keep it there for as long as I don't need anything or want anything...
