My MRI results... |
|
I posted a discussion last week about my appointment to get an MRI done of my brain. Many of you responded to it and I just wanted to let everybody know the results. I got a hold of my doctor's nurse on Friday evening and she told me that my MRI was normal. Now, don't get me wrong, I was upset! But, only because I really want to know what is wrong with me and why I have been having pain & numbness in my feet, legs & his for over two years now. It is really frustrating and I just want a diagnosis so I can deal with it and finallyyyy get treatment! I have made a follow-up appointment to see my doctor which is tomorrow afternoon. I guess we will discuss what the next step will be to try to find out what is wrong. Thanks to all of you for your well wishes.
Jill

22. catdla1 (2757) | 7 months ago | Great news about the MRI! I know that doesn't solve the problem of the pain and numbness for you...however you have to consider that cause and treatment anywhere else on your body is better than if you had something going on in your brain, right? Have they checked your spine to see if there are any compression issues that may be causeing the problems? Maybe it's nerve related?

25. moondancer (2948) | 7 months ago | I'm glad that you MRI was normal, even though it left you with unanswered questions. I had this same problem. I also have problems with my lower back and hips. A nerve conduction study was done on my legs to see if I had any nerve damage in my legs. I do in one of them. But I also learned by going to one doctor at the pain management clinic that my pelvic and right hip were out of place. The joints were of of place causing me excruciating pain. I was not even able to turn over in bed or to just normally get up and out of bed as most people do, because I could not turn over. I had to use my arms to move my body and the pain, oh my God the pain was intolerable I would scream in pain. The doctor said he was surprised that I was even walking. I told him I would not have been if I had not had an appointment to see him. Anyway, he sent me to a physical therapist that he knew personally. He said no other one would do. That this guy had developed a way to put hips and pelvic back into place for women. I guess my point is the doctor told me that many many women had this problem and had no idea that they have it. They know they hurt in their hip, legs, feet, lower back or whatever but they have no idea that their hip is out of place. My hip and pelvic was. With my back problems I have pinched nerves off and on so there is damage from that. That causes pain in my feet, toes, and legs. I would suggest that you talk to someone a doctor at a pain clinic. They know what they are doing and can diagnose many ailments just by an exam. If nothing else they can help with the pain and tell you what kind of tests they think you need to have done. I wish you lots of luck with this.

Several months ago, I had an MRI on my back, which has been hurting for almost a year. A few days ago, I received the results: there was nothing wrong. To be honest, I (and some of my friends and family) believe that there's gotta be something wrong, as it started when I fell, while playing rounders.
I asked a friend of mine, who is a nurse, and she believes it may be a trapped nerve, but she doesn't know how doctors think

27. definitelyarun (185) | 7 months ago | Have you done any investigations on your spine, like a MRI of it? Maybe it could be of some use. A nerve entrapment like sciatica can cause such distressing symptoms. Are you a bit overweight or have been indulging in too much driving or sitting or have done any sort of heavy work that could have been strenous for your back? If then an MRI can rule out any chance of a disc prolapse that was mild, which remained occult for long time and is progressing . Intervertebral Disc Prolapse can present with such symptoms. And according to the level of involvement, you said that it is upto the hips . Then the problem would point to somewhere like your lumbar spine L4 L5 .The nerves arising from this point can be caught up in the prolapse or some other sort of entrapment .This can be bilateral, that is, both the sides are being involved. It is unusual to have a unilateral involvement. This needs a surgery which can correct the symptoms. But the duration of two years of your symptoms is a lot. I think if you had had a disc prolapse two years back it would have been a lot lot worse by now. And you would have seeked medical advice much earlier. Anyhow I just gave a provisional diagnosis .I do not know if you had already discussed about it with your doctor. But if not, it is good to. Because it is so prevalent these days and anyone can get it be it young or old. Now that your MRI is normal and your brain is perfect you can cut down the worry because if anything was wrong then the prognosis of a brain disease is always on the poorer side. So, cheer up, hope for the best, pray and it may turn out a trivial illness with a reasonable treatment with 100% success rates.

30. carolscash (4886) | 7 months ago | Do you happen to live where you might have been bitten by a tick? If so, ask that they check for Lyme Disease. My oldest daughter had it for several years and it wasn't diagnosed and suddenly started having numbness on her left side and they told us that it could be ms,but we found a doctor who finally diagnosed her with chronic neurological Lyme Disease. scary, but true! I always ask people as it is a very overlooked disease and most doctors won't even look for it. I hope that they find what is wrong soon.
