I almost died |
|
On Saturday my dear little baby girl was born at home. Afterwards I lost two and a half liters of blood. I was taken to a city hospital in an ambulance. I had some really horrible treatment and so it was upsetting being there. I wanted to leave there as soon as I could so I did after two days move to my local hospital. I am back home now avoiding getting blood clots and fainting. I have to rest for the next six weeks.
Have you ever thought you might die? If you have had a baby did you have any severe complications?

41. Annmac (789) | 6 months ago | Sorry you had complications. I know how frightening it can be. I nearly died having a C-section birth and actually had a near-death experience. My heart and breathing stopped for 4 minutes whilst I was under. Luckily for me it was a 'good' experience not a frightening one that I've heard some people describe and has made me appreciate living. (The baby is now a 36 yr old)
I'm sure you've been told what to do but the following may help you too. As a care-worker I'd advise you to take things slowly, sleep when the baby is sleeping, let others do the heavier housework and shopping, and just enjoy being a Mum. One way to prevent fainting is to change position slowly. May sound easy but you'd be surprised how often we stand up or move too quickly. Getting out of bed should be a three step process till you are well again. step one, sit up slowly. step two, swing your legs out of the bed but remain sitting on the edge. step three, stand up slowly. Also try not to stand or sit in the same position too long. Although you need to rest you also need to keep the circulation active and we tell our 'clients' to move their legs, and feet for a few minutes every hour. Take any help that is offered and don't feel 'guilty' for having it. You need it to get well and you'll get there quicker if you don't push yourself too hard. To be honest I'd make the most of it! Being a new Mum and housewife is hard work when you're fit and healthy lol. Good luck sweetheart and give your little one a big hug for me!

42. ladygator (1124) | 6 months ago | I am glad that you are here to tell about this. And I am sure that your love for your little girl will be so strong. I wanted a home birth, but I had pre-ecclampsia. I was in a high risk pregancy and my blood pressure would skyrocket. I did have a very bad experiance with my last delivery and I really thought that I was going to die, as did all the others that were there. But I am here and so is he four years later. He was however the last baby that we plan on having.

But it's money that I am haemorrhaging! She's 20 and it doesn't get any cheaper. Do take lots of care. I like to see you about and have missed you recently.

| 46. bakedzito (32) | 6 months ago | Back in February, I got very sick. There was a stomach virus going around at the time, so I just figured that's what I caught. The first night I vomited about 10 times. The next day it felt like I had pulled a muscle in my stomach, but the day after that I just felt constant pain and there was nothing I could do to make it go away. It hurt when I stood up, sat down, and lay down. My husband and I recently got married and we do not have health insurance, so I did not want to go to the hospital. I didn't think it was that serious, but my husband told me that if the pain didn't go away by tomorrow, we were going. The pain didn't go away the next day and so we went to the E.R. that night. After sitting in the waiting room for about 5 hours, I finally got a room. I told the doctor my symptoms and he thought it was probably a stomach virus, since so many people were coming in with that. But since I was having so much pain, they wanted to take an MRI just to make sure there was nothing wrong. The results came back and we found that my appendix had burst. If I had waited too long to go to the hospital, I could have died.
I had surgery the next morning and had to stay in the hospital for a whole week. Has anyone else stayed in the hospital before? The food is TERRIBLE!

50. fec139 (688) | 6 months ago | WAS THIS baby born at home by choice, or were you unable to get to the hospital in time? If you chose to have the baby at home, why? In this day and age, that is a risky decision. Is the baby okay? You are lucky, and I hope if you have any more babies, you can get to a hospital in time to have the baby there. I am glad it turned okay in the end.
