Don't you feel bad after you spend that money? |
|
Today, I went to the SAM's club for shopping, a box of bottled coke; a big pack of gum; and a box of muffin for breakfast. I totally spent around $32 for that. I felt so bad after I look at my receipt. I should live frugally, and not to spend too much on something that I don't really need. On the other hand, I was trying to comfort myself. Do you feel the same after spend a certain amount of money?

| 22. dabombmom6558 (24) | 6 months ago | i wouldn't go to the store for comfort. i wouldn't buy those items at sam's club. if you truely needed the comfort of those items you could have gone to another store & bought less quantity for less money. when i look for comfort i turn to family & friends, not muffins. sorry.

mommyboo (3332) | 6 months ago | I think you're missing the point. Unless things like the Coke is on sale super cheap with coupons (like say - 2 cases for $4= 24 cans of soda), then the best bet is a warehouse store. At a normal grocery store a case tends to be kind of pricey normally, sometimes $4 or more. I think you can get 36 pks of soda there for about $7.89 or something like that, if you divide by the total cost they are cheaper per can that way. If only one person is drinking them and they don't even drink one every day, it might last a month and a half. That doesn't sound un-frugal to me. Same deal with the muffins. I know that I can get a huge case of giant muffins at Costco and they aren't that expensive. If I cut the muffins in half and freeze some of them, only keeping out the few I'd eat that week and thawing out a few at a time in the future, those would also last about a month and a half, since I think they come 12 to a box - cut in half that makes 24. Granted I don't buy muffins anyway because I prefer other things for breakfast but I'm making a point here. Either way, buying food items IS a necessity, so bagging on anybody for what they choose is kind of a pointless thing to do.

23. highflyingxangel (8965) | 6 months ago | I usually feel bad after I spend any amount of money. It's not like I earn a lot anyway, and sometimes I feel like I could really work on spending my money a bit wiser than I do, so I feel guilty for buying things that I know I need anyway. It's hard getting over that rut though.

24. mommyboo (3332) | 6 months ago | I wouldn't feel bad at all about the things you bought. That's not much at ALL to spend at a warehouse like Sam's Club or Costco. I know I spent at least that much getting stuff for a bbq I had recently, and when I go to Costco to stock up on bulk items, I probably spend about 4 times that much. I try not to go more than once a month though, and it does save in the long run - industrial sized packages of things means it's cheaper per serving and it lasts longer with 3 or 4 people eating whatever it is. For instance - granola bars or mixed nuts? If I go to the regular grocery store, those things are expensive if I'm trying to get 5 lbs or a 30-45 bars. At costco I think the big container of nuts is like 10 bucks and so are the granola bars.

29. Glow1971 (215) | 6 months ago | I have learned a long time ago not to spend money on things that I will not use or eat. It is a waste of money to buy things you really don't need but if you truly eat those things, than I suggest that you compare the prices from your local grocery store to the prices at Sams club and see if you are saving money. In today's economy it's imperative that we try not to overspend or spend money on things we don't necessarily need, eat or use.
