How does your child get to school?

Hi Prash, I'm presuming from that the chauffeur is you, children certainly make us feel like that and it's even worse in the holidays. I drove my son every day until the last year as didn't think he was old enough to walk to the busstop safely, our own dirt track is fine, well it's a total mess but it's safe, but then he has to use the road to the pick up point and some of the cars come tearing down at great speeds.
I think another factor though is the weight of the bag of school books which they must carry home every day, I can't even pick it up it is so heavy. They have no facility to leave their many books at school overnight.

I was just saying my concern for my granddaughter's safety going to school and even if they have friends to walk with, I don't think that would make them any more safe...in fact it may even distract them more if they are chatting.
I remember being taught road safety at school, I wonder if it's still taught in the schools today... I hope so!

Hi Alice, we have the exact same problem with the crossing which crosses the main road yet there is the equivalent of a lollipop woman right outside the school but the children don't have to cross the road there, the buses drop them or the cars.
My son loves it when the weathers to bad to get to the school bus as he gets an extra ten minutes in bed, something he only ever wants on a school morning. School hols he's cross with himself if he's not up before 7am as important business to attend to, namely cartoons. Hoping he'll sleep in a bit tomorrow though as it's already gone midnight and no sign of him coming home yet. No I haven't left him roaming the streets Alice, he's at his best friends house and they'll drive him back at some point, but only to the end of the dirt track which means as soon as the telephone goes i have to get the car out again. i definitely feel like a chauffeur.
